Fleck and Coutts didn't get called up did they?
 
I think one of the main reasons Scottish football has declined over recent years is the necessity to pick Celtic players.

How on earth can you judge how good they are when they're playing against shite week in week out?

4 Celtic Midfielders called up, 1 Hibs Midfielder, Barry fucking Bannon....

If I was Fleck or Coutts I'd call up Mr Strachan and offer my retirement from International football.
 
Whilst they definitely deserve a call up at least they get a rest and less risk of injury so good news for the blades, not so good for them.

It really is ridiculous that Coutts and Fleck don't even get a mention. Not sure Fleck ever will with his Rangers connections and Strachan being in charge, the poisonous little ginger dwarf.

Seems he didn't watch the derby game when Bannan was completely embarrassed for ninety minutes by those two. I've no sympathy for Scotland.

Yes, why would an international manager want to watch a fast paced derby with one of your strikers and midfielders playing, plus two more potential midfielders for your squad?

He might have been a good player, but he is a shite manager. Long may he continue to ignore Fleck and Coutts.

I think Bannan is one of Wednesday's best players to be honest so I was surprised to see the comments on Twitter about his continued inclusion from the Scots. They really dislike him it seems. Nobody mentioned Coutts or Fleck though.
 
I think anyone would struggle to pick a decent England squad. Just look at the centre mid options.

Livermore, Wilshire, Delph, Henderson, Chamberlain, Dier, Winks.

Many others seem to crave recognition for the way we play football, or the quality of our players.

I couldn't give a fuck. I / we love what we're witnessing, and if the rest of the world is blind to it, why should we care?

I am totally bias, but I'd rather see Fleck/Coutts at the base of England's midfield than the utter dross Southgate has rolled out.

Fabian Delph? Jake Livermore? Really?

I'm sure Dele Ali and Harry Kane would appreciate having two players behind them that always show for the ball and never give it away...

I really am struggling with Livermore and Delph.

Southgate really has no clue, I mean, didn't we start against Malta with Dier and Livermore as holding midfielders? WTF.

He's a name, nobody seems to want to upset the applecart and pick players from left field.

Although he's certainly made a few WTF inclusions, take Delph for example.

It's not hard is it? Just use Tufty's Blueprint.

Shift to 3 at the back with Dier in the Basham role so he can shift to midfield leaving a back 4 if so required.

Walker and Rose as wing backs. Kane up top with Ali just off him (a la Brooks and Clarke).

He just needs to find one or two ball playing midfielders and we're away...
 
Internationals are a complete waste of time as far as England are concerned, hate these breaks. Couldn't care less about the other home nations although hope Brooks plays well if he gets the chance.

Celtic might play at an inferior level to the Championship but I presume that Strachan likes to play as many as he can from the same team so they achieve the club familiarity, which must help tactically for international football. Sadly for Fleck and Coutts, Strachan is very loyal to players within the squad and hardly ever changes his squad and with results been decent he isn't going to get any pressure to pick Fleck or Coutts from the media up there.

I think Fleck and Coutts best chance is to wait for the qualifiers to be over and then hope to get a call up for a friendly. Neither Fleck and Coutts are young now either and there are players that are of a similar age that have over 20 caps and get picked every squad. Barry Bannan sadly fits into this category! It may well be that we have to get promoted for either of them to have a chance, or worst still they want to move to gain a better chance of a cap. Thankfully the 4 year extension on Fleck would hint that he sees his future with us and Coutts extended as well this summer. It might actually be a blessing that neither of them get higher exposure with Scotland to Premier League clubs or Celtic! Saying that, I'd love to see them play for Scotland. In my time as a Blade we've not had many internationals that have actually started many games. Keith Gillespie, Rob Page and Alan Kelly were the main exceptions. I never saw any of Petr Katchouro with the mighty Belarus!
 
To be honest, i'd rather they didn't play for Scotland. They'd come back shite.
