If the move to WBA is true, we'd have offloaded Naughton, Walker, in all likelihood Killa and then Ward in the space of about four months.
And replaced them with, well, we generally know.
I've no problem with re-profiling for financial sakes but I'm struggling to see the logic of how we're going about it.

Throw in Cotterill aswell to list of players on their way.

Seems more of a clear out.

Although If Ward goes its a clear sign something is not right at the lane money wise. I very much doubt he is on daft wages.

I have to say, having already lost Naughton, Walker, Cotterill and Beattie in the past 12 months, losing Ward as well would probably be a step too far for me. For the first time since the mid-90s I would seriously consider not-renewing.

P.S. I don't really give a flying proverbial if that means I'm not as much a hardcore fan as "you" (before "you" reply).

I aint renewing anyway cant afford to really and have other things that I need to spend money on. Still havnt finished paying for this seasons ticket yet anyway. :(

Where have you heard this from?

I think a lot of people are in the same boat mate, me included.

TBH it's not just the money, I'm getting more disillusioned with every player leaving. I was pissed off with Beattie leaving, but it was understandable in that he was on Premier League wages (so we are told) and we'd lost the parachute payments.

But it seems we've now started selling anyone half decent who we can raise a fee for. When you're selling players aged 17,19,21,23 it spells trouble as far as I'm concerned. Especially when you're replacing them with 32 year old has-beens and loanees.

And quite frankly, I'm sick of the bullshit now. At least when Fjortoft, Deane, Saunders, etc were sold we weren't fed a load of bollocks. McCabe had a dream: Robson/passing football/being the next Manure. Since the fans didn't share that vision he's looked for an exit strategy and fucked us over (again and again) in the process. The thing that galls me most is that he does it with a smile on his face and feeds us a load of bullshit about the future.

Sure, he's achivied more than Mike Mcdonald (etc) ever did. But he built on the back of Warnock (appointing him was the best thing he ever did). He's becoming a liability now.

Which he wont be a part of anyway.

I am worried but only because we seem to be going backwards and slowly slipping back into being that mid table Championship club that could be near the top but runs out of steam because of lack of quality, depth and decent manager. Fair enough off the field stuff is all great but these developments mean nothing if it isnt helping us on the field some how. The off the field stuff hasnt helped us so far keep on to our star players nor are they helping us find any hidden gems abroad. Doing great for getting for our "brand" and getting us known out there but thats about it so far. Maybe it will change? Although in the mean time what we do know is we are going no where fast on the field.

If true absolutely ridiculous decision - and goes a long way to showing where ambitions actually lie. Like many who have said this before - its not the selling that annoys its the crap about "Europe in 3 years", "established Prem Club" that grates - when sales like this (again, if true) smack of one thing - back to a selling club. Fair enough - I'm a Blade like we all are and will still be there as much as poss - we're going to lose a good 5/6k season ticket holders next season if things continue. Talking to a lad at work who sits on the South Stand reckons most people round him aren't renewing. Anyhow I least we know what we're dealing with know as we've been here before.

I'll not be getting a season ticket next year lol. Seriously though i can see us averaging less than 20k next year and that will start us selling more players. Which means fewer buying the year after. etc

let's not get all wound up about this. It's nothing more than rumour, as far as we all know.

If true then this would be the final straw for many!!!

McCabe wouldn't be so daft would he?

I just cannot believe that this is anything more then a rumour; i would expect West Brom to be looking at players they think can make an impact in the premeriship as the squad they have would seem to be strong enough for promotion already.

Wardy is our best player in our team by a country mile at the moment but i don't see where he would fit into the West Brom side; which probably says a lot about the gulf between the two teams :-(

I would also hope that the club realise that current club to fan relations aren't exactly at an all time high and selling Wardy would be a real body blow which could see the prickly atmosphere at BDTBL exacerbated even further.

What is abundantly clear on the basis of the last 12 months is that the club is prepared to sell anyone. On this basis, I wouldn't rule something like this out.

You just know the quote "£300,000 to £1.5million in 11 months is good business, too good to turn down, we can strengthen squad blah blah."

Selling what has been our best player (despite being out) would ensue a few thousand into the car park following the next home loss, I really hope they see sense.........

Maybe Blades Realty Limited really is in as much trouble as I think it could be.

Anyway it will be refreshing to hear Johnson's comments this weekend. He is the only man I hear speak the truth about SUFC - ie 'SUFC seem to have some financial problems' re MCindoe farce.

I think until something comes out as to the real reasons why Trevor Birch was appointed then all any of this is, is speculation. The quicker something is said about what is going on behind the scenes the better

Wba want wardy !!!!!

Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere but the BBC web site is reporting that WBA are after Ward for £1.5M in Jan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surely we are not going to let this happen.............are we?

You want us to serious comment on a story from the BBC's Rumour section?

If it happens then I'll be a touch miffed especially for that price. But can you see it? Really?

This is sheffield united we never sell our young stars for peanuts don't be daft......

It's also in The Mirror, see thread in rumour mill

shite!

It's the same story.

The BBC rumour column simply takes stories from the day's media.

I'm almost certain we'd not make such a stupid error, but I can already hear the 'he'll be playing in the East Midlands which is important to him' so y'never know.

Won't happen at that price though. IF, and it's a massive, IF it does, then we're in all sorts of financial peril that we're not aware of.

You don't think we'll get that much ?

Er.... East Midlands?

It makes absolute perfect sense to sell him! He is young, energetic, talented and dangerous! He can play football. Surely he does not fit into our plans. We have an adequate replacement for him (and Cotts) in Little. Get him flogged. I'd be happy with offers around the 250k mark.
