WARNOCK TO RESURRECT WEBBER INTEREST

Palace boss hopes to nab striker

Eagles boss Neil Warnock will resurrect his interest in Sheffield United's out-of-favour striker Danny Webber.

The Advertiser has learned that Webber was within minutes of securing a permanent move to Selhurst Park during the January transfer window, but the deal was put on hold as it could not be completed in time.

Warnock tried to nab the striker again, this time on loan, and had agreed a deal with then Blades boss Bryan Robson that would see Webber join on loan until the end of the season.

However, that deal was stopped in its tracks after Robson was sacked by the Bramall Lane club and the subsequent appointment of Kevin Blackwell.

And now the Advertiser understands that Warnock will launch a third attempt to bring Webber to SE25 once he returns from his summer holiday.

Is this the Dronfield Advertiser? :D

A long term loan agreed for an injured player? I know Warnock moves in mysterious ways but that's a bit of a strange one even for him! :)

time we say bye bye, he isn't that good of a player, once he gets tackled hard he does not take on anyone, he just gets rid of the ball.

I had heard a whisper that Blackie thought Danny & Hulse had a big part to play next season :)

Well realistically, we need 4 strikers on our books. If Danny and Rob have a big part to play, as you say, we're supposedly definitely keeping Beattie, it looks like Shelton will be out on his arse and one from Stead and Billy. I fear for Stead, personally. I'd rather keep Stead than Hulse purely for "bet hedging" reasons. We don't know to what level he'll recover.

I've always rated webber, although can be very nesh, with the ball he is deadly and could do great things for us in the cahmpionship

I agree. Although he is sometimes muscled off the ball easily, webber along with shipps was the driving force behind our promotion two years ago.

Aye, I think I'm only just about recovered from the bruises sustained at Ninian Park :D

Happy days!

and as if by magic, suddenly Blackwells thoughts have hit the press echoing what I said earlier! :s
