What's the reasoning behind this match playing Friday evening? I can't see it live on Sky football.

Policing maybe? If Derby/ Forest etc are at home the next day?

I assume its something to do with attendances. They probably lose a few floaters to the 'bigger' clubs around them when they play on a Saturday.

Well done to them for punching above their weight, but the sooner they're out of the Championship the better.

Tranmere used to play home games on a Friday night for a similar reason. Though I think they did it to attract a few Liverpool/Everton fans in, who would not attend a Saturday game.
I remember Southend did too ,I think because they shared a car park with a supermarket (no late night opening in those days except for the corner shop)

Wasn't there a non-league team in east London who played on Friday nights because they lost a lot of their support when Wet Sham were playing at home?

I live near Burton and you know what, as a lifelong Blade i find some of the comments on this thread to be almost Porcine, in a we are massive way. Burton Albion are a shining example of a football club that has bucked the trend, you know, similar to what we are doing under the guidance of Chris Wilder. As football fans, we should all collectively applaud their success in a time where success through thorough planning and damned hard work is rare.

I hear what your saying, but clearly they are massive dicks for moving the match.

Clearly how exactly?

Rotherham experimented with Friday night fixtures back in the mid 80s as some genius had suggested that it was the Sheffield clubs playing on a Saturday that was effecting their attendances, (not the fact that they were shit and in division 4)

I know this because me and a school mate both aged around 14 decided to sneak off and see what this football on a Friday night was all about. So paying our 2p bus fares (2p!!!!) we caught the 69 bus, a hilariously numberd bus when you were 14, and set off to see Rotherham Vs Darlington.

The attendance wasn't really that boosted by the Friday night kick off as Darlington brought the grand sum of ONE supporter to the game who had the scrap yard end terrace at Millmoor to himself. Even better Darlington went on to win one nil.

Apparently the coach load of fans that Darlo were due to be sending got stuck behind a major accident on the A1 so never made it past Scotch Corner and the one fan who was there was a family member of one of the team who had travelled with them that morning, he went beserk when the final whistle went.

Me and my mate, a pig fan as it happened, found the whole thing very funny but agreed this Friday night football would never catch on....

Like everyone else on this thread, i don't know why the fixture is on Friday night, but what i do know is that it will be for a very good reason as Burton do not normally have their games on Fridays.I will find out, probably on the evening of the game, and let you all know.

If a club has to move its fixtures to a Friday night because their "fans" would rather watch another team in same division play on the Saturday........do they even deserve to fucking exist?

Nuke 'em! What do you reckon Tyler?

There’s a big parade starting at 3.30 On Sat 18th in Derby, ending with Xmas lights turn on. I guess FLN wants to take the family.
