Burnley women v United women - 25 October

Looking at the table, it’s a real 6 pointer and a must win game for Burnley…which would put us in the bottom 2 relegation positions.

Looks like we got off to a great start, early goal leading 1-0.
Then I tune into the BBC site at half time, now losing 2-1 and looking at the in-game match stats, looks like it’s been total Burnley domination.
Was thinking this 1 match could play a big role in us being relegated and maybe downsizing the women’s team

But just after half-time we equalise 2-2….remember it’s a game we don’t need to win…a draw still keep us in a fairly strong position.

However blow me down…looks like it’s us now dominating the 2nd half and we get a deserved 3rd goal on 74 minutes….now winning 3-2.

And on 80 minutes to calm the nerves we go 4-2 up….looks like it was a right match.
Surely we’ll hold on now…..the players and manager will be buzzing.
We’ve opened up a 4 point safety gap from Burnley and gone into the pack with several other teams on 6 points.

Where’s the resident SU women’s football fans? Bet Beans is so happy.

I only saw the first half so am very much looking forward to catching up on the second. We were getting pulled to bits first half so it's some turnaround. We basically only had eleven senior players today too with injuries and suspension so it's doubly impressive.

Abbie Jones is a name to keep an eye on. Don't think she's turned 18 yet, one of the few England U17 players not on the books of an elite club (the other, Lottie Day, moved from United to Man City this summer). That's her first senior goal today and it was a lovely turn, run and finish. Hope United have a contract offer on the table for when she's old enough to turn pro.

A great result. Shame I couldn't get there. All trains via Leeds were cancelled. Hope they do as well on Wednesday v everton.7pm kick off at scunthorpe
