Am I the only one who doesn't give a toss about BU closing? I felt it was poorly run, full of self important tossers who thought they were the last word on football or any other given subject, and woe be tied anyone who dare criticise the club! One poster even found a positive that we lost to the Pigs 'I'm glad we lost as the record was a millstone round our neck' or words to that effect. Also we will no longer have to put up with those boring legal threads which often took place. Also as someone said on barrelofmoney the fact that other forums have sprung up over the years wouldn't have anything to do with Webbo's heavy handed moderating??? One thing though well done Len, who has managed to be a wind up merchant for the full term, and got bites everytime, hope he re-appears somewhere.

So F**k BU and long live less moderated forums like this!!!

COYRAWW!!!!!

Les.

Well it's certainly one way of looking at it... but I think BU became a bit of a ghetto, with no new blood, it was bound to seem intimidating to anyone who did venture on. And the faceless leader looking down from above, from whom you were lucky if you received a response, justice was swift and seemingly inconsistent.

Places like this did spring up because it was clear that there were a whole raft of people who were banned, or just couldn't sign up to Bladesunited. This forum has just past its fourth birthday, so it obviously wasn't just a recent issue.

But saying that, we welcome all members who want to join this forum... as long as they sign up to our ethos.

Everyone is allowed a say without being called names and irreverent chat and a somewhat distorted sense of humour are required.

We like things to be well debated, but we aren't so uptight that you need a degree to be able to understand what's been spoken about.

The format we have means that off-topic posts are on-topic in the relevant forums so if you just want Blades chat, you don't read anywhere else than this board. Threads are tidied up as and when needed but redirects are always left so people don't get lost.

And finally, Foxy and myself post as fans of the club as well as admins. For the last four years we've been able to do that with the minimum of problems and administration of the forum usually means sorting out user problems, rather than problem users. Hopefully this can continue... we'd hate to have to spend all day telling people off rather than joining in :)

'I'm glad we lost as the record was a millstone round our neck' or words to that effect. "

I think you might be referring to me, Les or another one of the reknowned 'BU back four', as I think we became known. ;)

Never pleased to lose to anyone, least of all that mob from S6, and that's not the spirit it was written in. It had just become '92 years since the last...'. For years no-one even kept count, I expect, but once it had become public knowledge, it did become a bit of a millstone, and I think it affected how everyone started to view the derby games. It stopped being a game to win for the glory, and started being a game not to lose for the preservation of the record. It gave Laws something to fire up his little group of journeymen and the scufflers who follow them. They were always going to be lucky one time, even though it hurt like hell on the day.

As for BU itself, it did have a feeling of tiredness especially over the last six months, after Walthy and Highbury got kicked off. I know a lot didn't like the non-football stuff, but it was a diversion and kept things fresher that just 20 posts a day about nothing much. As for the clique thing. Funny that the ones in another forum, who complained the most are now shunning BU posters themselves. Len and Curtis in the same place. Nein danke matey!

Anyway, its a clean sheet this year, all ways round and I'm feeling pretty good. I can't see us 10 points clear at any stage, but I do think we'll be within 6 or 8 points of the top at Christmas. Mind you, you wouldn't expect anything else from Duncans Temple of Positivity, would you..?

good to see you on here duncs, the "other place" just aint an option for me, posted as mike trusson on BU joined here 6 weeks or so ago and it seems like a nice place to be, i won't miss the self importance of len, though thats not to say I'm against different opinions, its the taking themselves way too seriously which was irksome, as for curtis, well mental health issues are not to be laughed at.

:)

No worries, think there is a time/place for 'Political' and other threads and that was my beef with BU the poor layout.

I think we'll finish in the top 8.

As a regular reader but non poster due to the non registration issues, Im torn to see it go!

I used to like reading the relatively sensible opinions of the BU'ers from time to time, when it came to things happening at the lane but the layout was nothing short of ridiculous and lendegoey1 was, well everyones got an opinion on him!

"Also as someone said on barrelofmoney the fact that other forums have sprung up over the years wouldn't have anything to do with Webbo's heavy handed moderating???"

Me, me, me!!!

Might see you on the train from time to time Les.

Think I'm going to get on with you matey :D

There's a good few of us on here that have been round long enough to have sod all expectations (they always let us down :() - but always have a bucketful of hope. One day it's going to happen for us again

Till then it's just a case of backing the lads - living with the ups and downs of being a Blade - and enjoying a few pints (and a curry) with me mates on match day.

Good Enuff :) - Maybe catch you at the Lion if you call round before a match.

"lendegoey1 was, well everyones got an opinion on him!"

Well, if you predict doom and disaster for all but a handful of football teams in England, you will always be right. But I felt sad for Len really. If you can't get excited and a bit giddy about football, then what must the rest of your life be like? I'm sitting here, with butterflies in my stomach (worst omlette I ever had...), and can't wait for the clock to tick round to kick off. I must be daft, but why be anything else..?

Hello Duncs you'll have to get your chin-up club going on here hopefully we'll still have them up after Boro.

I was a regular reader, but never registered. I found Len's posts hilarious - and what was even more funny was the way that people bit! He knew exactly what he was up to. Just like Curtis before him.

Edinblade I thought was a genuinely miserable fellow!

Hey Toronto! You made it!! Anyway, the rest of the stragglers from the Chin-up Club will catch up, I'm sure...

Although BU had its bad moments, I think you inspired its greatest for me, when getting you tickets for Wembley, remember. Load of people on the phone trying to get through for you, and finally succeeding through someones mate near the front of the queue, who bought your tickets without any idea of who you were other than 'can you get three tickets for some bloke from Canada, and he'll pay you when he sees you'. Magical.

Cant wait for the game tonight. Have you got a live feed?
