Obviously didn't cover himself in glory on Saturday (despite the superb goal).

But does he deserve a run (on the basis that Billy also hasn't been covering himself in glory recently, despite the two at Burton)? He's clearly saying here he wants to be starting more games.

For my money: yes. Certainly think he ought to be in the starting eleven for Friday - needs a little run of games now.

To be fair to the lad, the question was phrased as 'do you want more starts' pretty much, and no footballer will ever say 'yeah I'm happy on the bench'. It wasn't in a big time, 'I deserve/demand more starts' way. Not sure if that comes across on the clip.
Bit of an misleading OP title IMHO. Makes him sound like he's giving it the big 'un when he wasn't.

I'm not happy Alf Alfreton14Blade , I'll see you round the back of Argos. I'll be in a white van.

Yeah, he's clear that he respects the manager's decision, whatever it is.

More a case though, I'd say, that he warrants a little run of games.

Tricky times though. We go 4 without a win, with Brooks starting, & (despite everything) you'd foresee a few pelters thrown Wilder's way.

EDIT: I'm onto the press as I type this, just so's you know Bushers.

Think he handled that well, just your typical reporter asking questions hoping to get a reply that can be twisted imo.
He did. And admitted he didn't have a good game.

Totally agree with most posters On this one ,more of a diplomatic forced answer that he wants to
Play rather than an demanding statement , Thought he come across quite well, obviously just had a r8 bollocking mind !

The game he should have started was Birmingham at home, it was nailed on they were going to park the bus and we were going to need something a bit different.

I would however bring Billy back on Friday against Bristol City. We are likely to need two or three to get a win so we need our best goal scorers on the pitch.

The OP didn't really cover himself in glory, by using the phrase 'covering themselves in glory' too often.

Good, level headed Interview from the lad, that.

Not for me, he needs to be coming on when teams are tiring, being him and manage him into the first team, I haven't seen enough form him to say he should be starting at this stage, there's been flashes but there's absolutely loads of improvement required from him.

Agree all round game not quite there yet

Never mind making more starts he doesn't even look old enough to get a front door key off his mum. I bet his mum doesn't even let him walk home from training!

Yep, he needs a good run of starts now. He has the greatest amount of potential in the squad, and that can only be turned into reality with consistent starts.

Ladies and gentleman.

Observe exhibit A.

Sublime skill to megs Hunt, atrocious pass, if it can even be described as that, to Leon.

David Brooks to a tee in one 30 second video.

Much to learn and improve if he is to fulfil the potential.

Bench player for me as it stands.

UTB

I really don't see him as a striker. I think displacing Clarke or Sharp is not really his aim. Duffy, probably!

He's not really playing as an out and out striker though Robbie ..For me he plays behind Leon alongside Duffy, but is the one to get in and around Leon in support.
I wouldn't mind seeing him get a run of games, but if it's off the bench for half an hour,I'm happy with that for now.

tell him to play better then

He has the ability, he just needs his football tweaking, only confidence and support, with a lot of training can do that, and we have the machine, just need to put the cogs in the right places...

fucking stupid phone .. sorry
so apparently that’s what he said anyway.. shitstirring journalist

Yeah, he's just responding naturally to a question, not trying to push his luck, not at all. And no controversy about it, as far as I can see - the clip was posted officially on Sheffield Utube (under the title "David Brooks keen for more starts").

S2 parochial Sunday League thinking alive and well I’m pleased to see.

‘Needs a run’. Fuck what he needs. We’re a professional football club. It’s up to the players to make sure they gerrarun by consistent performance levels. Is that really so difficult to grasp?

It's the second time you've been fishing in this pond.

Its an overly leading interview no doubt, but I think he'll start tonight.
