I think AFCB would want their money back at least, probably a lot more. If they are relegated that puts them in a weaker negotiating position perhaps?

If we do become interested in re-signing him once the window opens we'd have to hope we are the only serious club bidding for him as I reckon AFCB would prefer to sell him to a club other than us. Because if they were to sell him to us we obviously and quite rightly would be asking for his sell on percentage to be deducted from the transfer fee.

I know we don't really play with the attacking free role anymore but if we could get him back I think we easily could revert back to that formation while knowing we've got a Premier League quality player in Brooks to play in it. Even though he's had lots of time out injured since he left us, if ever he is out injured for us we know we've still got the formation we've played all this season that we potentially could revert to if needed.
Our sell on fee would be deducted from any transfer. Thats what a sell on means.

If he came back I'd play him behind Moose. That'd be lethal.

He's probably worth £20m now though, even with his limited games. You only have to make a few good passes in the Prem and your price goes up £1m.

I don't know who'd be in for him if Bournemouth go down, maybe Spurs but they're skint apparently, and I can't see City, Newton Heath, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester going for him as they've already got players like him. Chelsea could if Pedro and Willian leave I suppose.

I don't think he'd want to go to another midtable team like Palace or Burnley and I can't see him going to a promoted team.

Bournemouth might loan him out I suppose in the hope that they'll come straight back up.
That definitely won't happen

I'd say midtable, that's where we'd hope to stabilise for a few years. You look at Palace, Burnley, Watford (except this year), Southampton. Good teams on their day, competitive. We're around there I'd say but have a manager a level above those.

With a few more players and a headwind aiming to be upper midtable/Europa like an Everton.

If we get it this season that would accelerate things.

In getting Brooks we're in the same bracket as Palace and Burnley for his career, it's a shallow diagonal step, but we might have an advantage if we went after him because of his history with us and his family being near.

That's fair, I thought you were suggesting that the current league position put Sheffield United above those clubs.

If he's not crocked I can see a few clubs being after him. I wouldn't mind taking a look at him for a reasonable fee.

Brooks.
Ramsdale.
SUFC wages 37.6m (promotion year).
Bournemouth AFC wages 111m (2019)
The fuck?
I'm sad about this too, perhaps we can close the thread.
£111,000,000? Jesus Christ Fenton.

I’m all for furthering your career, but Bournemouth? OK I get it £30k or so a week. Who can give you a good time down there? Grannies without dentures? Whatever flicks your switch. Bournemouth was who we played when I started watching the Blades in the early eighties. Oohhhhh, Bournemouth at home in the Premier league. I’m scared. Fuck right off.

I would maybe have a try for Harry Wilson. Could play the trequartista role and also a threat from free kicks. Can't see him getting a look in at Liverpool.

Only Bournemouth player playing well is Stacey. Up and down the flanks, putting in a shift.

Brooks has always been a luxury player. Flashes of brilliance but can also be frustrating and ineffective.
Honestly don’t see him as a player Wilder would find a place for every week. Certainly not in the premier league.

Would rather Brooks found some form and consistency and earned that £30m plus transfer elsewhere.

When fit, David brooks can be very effective.

The young man has had 2 operations which has set him back - but there was a reason he made it on this shortlist.

.

He needs time - that might be another 6-9 months but his skill level is outstanding -he just needs to be played in the right position, in the right team.

Ramsdale saved a pen and make a couple of other very good saves...hes the one I'd have from Bournemouth. Could be our keeper for the next 10 years

I've had my doubts about him but he was outstanding today
Wonder how much they would want for him ,they do have a few decent keepers

Eddie, quite a lot I'd imagine but keepers are worth a lot. As I said we could have 10 years out of him, hes on the verge of the England squad and he's the right age.

They are going to have to raise some money from somewhere, can you imagine how much Solanke, Wilson and King alone are being paid never mind the rest?

The other player of theirs I quite like is Lewis Cook but I can see Leeds being in for him

We could do a lot worse than Ramsdale provided that the price was right for us.

Having said that, I'm sure Utds scouting team have probably identified a number of decent keepers in case Hendo doesn't come back next season, and there could easily be better for less money than Ramsdale.

Presumably we have a sell on clause when we sold him to B’mouth? If so we could buy him back cheaper than any other club would have to pay for him?

I mean Ramsdale not Brooks though i am sure we have a sell on clause for Brooks.

If they go down, then I'd expect Ramsdale would be on our shopping list. Bit cheaper for us if we have a sell-on clause on him as well. Only likely to get better at that age.

Have fun in the Championship Brooks. You could have maybe played for England and the Blades in the Prem bye bye wish you luck.

I disagree mate, the flat 3 has been the biggest fundamental change that is responsible for our success this season. The shape is perfect for us and we don't really have a place for that Duffy/Brooks type player.

Brooks plays off the striker ala McGoldrick and goes wherever he finds space.

Ramsdale is overrated - looks just like Pickford did when Sunderland got relegated - half decent in a very busy defence in a team that gets relegated.

He wasn't even supposed to be B'mouth no:1 this season - it was by default as B'mouth got not backed with who they wanted to sign last close season to be no:1

In our current formation, Brooks would play in the McGoldrick role, not in the midfield 3. Most of his best performances in League 1 were as the second striker rather than in Duffy's role.

The way some people talk you'd think he'd barely played for Bournemouth. He's missed all of this season up to now due to a serious injury, but his reputation is based more on last season when he was playing most weeks in the PL than a few promising appearances for us two divisions lower.
I understand your point but Brooks only ever played for us 4 times in league one. Compared to 33 in the champ. 👍

Didn't they have another really good young keeper who got injured ? I remember seeing him ladtnseason and thinking he looked phenomenal

they had bergovic and boruc least season and Ramsdale - they apparently wanted Butland from Stoke but from memory, Stoke wouldn't let him go.

Think that is why Ramsdale was promoted to No:1

It was a kid called Travers ( I've just googled it ) made his debut in a one nil win agsinst spurs won motm with a world class display but then disappeared without trace .don't know what happened to.him can't find anything but stats and articles about his debut

I'd have Brooks and Ramsdale back ... Brooks would give us something totally different to what we already have ... the first two or three years under Wilder he always had a winger type in the squad, they don't completely suit the system we have in place but they were always a good option to shake things up if required. As for Ramsdale he's a good keeper and a Sheffield lad, I think that local link is essential in a team like ours, they tend to go that extra percent.
