Holding on for tomorrow
Just found myself thinking of this match. Even though it was a dull midseason fixture with nowt to play for it was a great comeback from a team known for them. 2-0 down at HT then we put four past them in the second half (Asaba hat trick, think Brown scored the other). Think Darren Currie was playing for Brighton that day.

God I miss when we used to scooar!

Ah was it that long ago. I remember travelling down from Victoria with the London Blades and another train to the Withdean. Crappy makeshift wooden stand but a good day out.

I got some sponsor tickets to sit in their “main stand”. Kept very quiet first half as we were awful. Might have let a volley of words go as the team went down the tunnel at half time (was sitting by the tunnel). And was jumping up and down when the fourth one went in.

Great day, great comeback! What a season!

I was at that game with a mate who is a Brighton fan.

He always cringes when I mention Asaba and was it Chief who went down quite easily for a pen?

Didn't Asaba only come on as a sub not long before his hat-trick too?

I was only 12, but remember United fans banging their feet on the temporary seating to make noise and me being sure as a naive child it was going to collapse.

Still not the best game I've seen against Brighton 😁, step forward John Francis

I had booked a weekend with my mates in Blackpool for that weekend but I still went to the match by travelling from Blackpool and back by train. My friends thought I was being daft but it was well worth going to the 9 goal thriller!

I remember being in the front row of the away end, at ground level behind the bend of the athletics track. All 6 goals were scored in the opposite end - about 130 metres away so didn't get a great view of any of them. Great day though.

The two guys behind me got fed up of United's ineptitude added to the chilly weather, so decided to go to the pub at 2-0 down. I reckon they'd have arrived at the boozer just in time to see we'd won 4-2.
