I'm alright for McBurnie when we've got McGoldrick & Burke in the squad.

Not sure where he fits. If we can sell him (and I can't imagine we'd have many takers), I would. And bring in a more conventional target man for the bench. Use the extra funds to sort the midfield out.

Us playing with a target man makes our play so much more negative as it gives the team an excuse to lump it up, McBurnie has tried and we cant fault him for that but we play better without him

i just dont think mcburnie is a natural target man im certainly not a fan of his and if we could get 10m for him i would sell him but i think he looks so much better playing in a slightly deeper role and could still be very useful for us if were in the championship next season

I can’t see McBernie going anywhere, Chris in his interviews has always said him and Brewster are the future of Sheffield United so I don’t know where the if we can sell him even enters into it, he ain’t going nowhere.....

Because he’s been playing in a team completely devoid of confidence. Yesterday the team had a bit more confidence back, coupled with the time and space to play a bit.

no your not being too optimistic i think exactly the same all we need are 2 more midfielders to supply the ammunition and dont see any reason we cant come straight back up just like norwich are going to do big difference in quality between the premier league and the championship

If we play to his strengths, which I can potentially see us doing based on how we've played in the last two matches, then he'll more than come good. Unfortunately the tactics seem to revert to "lump it at the big man" whenever he's near the pitch. Not his fault and not to his benefit!

I’m not sure those are necessarily the tactics imo I think it’s just the easiest way out for players lacking in confidence. He played in both of those impressive wins against Chelsea and spurs when we played both off the park. If we can get our mojo back he’s a real asset.

I do agree, I've made that point you just made before on here and I had a couple of people tell me firmly that "wilder has always played hoofball" so I diluted my opinion a little for the sake of peace

If him and Brew both gel into playing their natural games together, with either Didz or Usain Burke creating space and chances, I think our attack would be unmanageable at championship level and could possibly even hold it's own at this level

He's not a target man, Duncan Ferguson, Andy Carroll, Drogba, Niall Quinn etc are. McBurnie has all of the physical statute of a gobby scrote you'd find down Wetherspoon's.

Call me a bit too optimistic, call me stupid but just getting a bit fed up of defeatist comments like this. Chuck an If in there and thats fine but please I still have faith and hope whilst its still mathmatically possible.

I disagree with you on Burke but agree on sharp and Didzy. I think our recruitment will probably focus elsewhere this summer given the heavy investment at that position the last two summers.

Got a good leap on him has Brewster. I think he's good when he's given the freedom to pick up the ball and run with it, he's quite like didzy in that regard. Can pick a pass too, but we need to be getting the ball to him in shooting positions a lot more.

As for McBurnie, I'm pretty sure he actually played a lot of football for Swansea on the left wing... I agree with other comments that he's not a natural target man, he's a decent scrapper but he's just not got the stature to dominate defenders. He is very good in the air though.

The issue early on this year is player we’re just flicking it on into areas and hoping rather than looking up and making a positive decision and that won’t be managerial instructions. Highly likely we'll be on 21 played & 5 points.
We'd then be needing 30 points from 17 games remaining... that's close to title winning form. A ridiculously tall order for a team that is currently the worst of all time in the division.

I think we're playing for pride now & for some momentum going into next season.

Nor I. I think his agent has already been planting stories in the press to try & get him out of here.

I think a move away would suit all parties anyway. It would be nice to see him playing for us when we actually have a lot of the ball for a change.

However, if a good offer comes in (money back) we'd be foolish not to take it & reinvest. You have to ask yourself - if we had £23m available would we be spending it on Berge in the Championship? If the answers no, it's probably best to let him go. I think we will need a bit more guile to open teams up next season.

His half hour cameo Tuesday reminded me of Jermain Defoe, turning and new running at defenders, eagerness to get a shot away (something we’ve missed for a long time). Fingers crossed the three points eases the pressure and the whole team start to express themselves as we know they can. If we can get players like Fleck, Stevens, Norwood back where they were early last season we could end the season on a high.

There’s no doubt we have a player in Brewster, get him the service and we should start to see a return.

It’s the injury that’s the thing which might hold him back imo he’s not going to have much time to prove fitness before seasons end.
