Brewster

I've made no secret of my love for Brewster, and frankly I think he's come on leaps and bounds since last season. He's a better passer, a more intelligent player, and he's finally scored some goals, including a very important one. I hope he does sign a new contract.

I have a lot of respect for him as a person, too. It must be extremely difficult going from an insanely hyped young striker at youth level to being unable to play for reasons outside of your control. He has a lot of resilience.

Even if he isn't with the club next season, in 20 years when Brewdog's name suddenly pops into my head, I won't think of his transfer fee or the lengthy scoring drought, I'll think of him swinging the pig at Hillsborough.

If he hasn’t accepted by now let him move on. He should have been willing to sign anything given the output we’ve seen from his first contract term, if he isn’t then cheerio 👋
I do like RB (and I know you don't much 😜) but I am thinking along these lines. Kid should've been chomping at any contract we've offered given we've stood by him for 4 years or so. Feels like a bit of a kick in the bollocks if he's haggling over a few quid.

He’s been very very unlucky, as have we with his situation.

But if he wants more money then it has to be see you later. My only caveat to that would be same money but with decent performance / goal bonuses

I just think he’s shit, I don’t mind him as a cheerleader.

His best period for us has been the last few months when he’s had a handful of 7/10 performances. If that’s the bar for our players then it won’t be Selles’ fault if we’re crap.

Is crabdata using IA rather than AI?
Not quite.

Due to copyright technicalities, my system is called Aye Aye. It uses the guts of Football manager 2021 and contains the ghost of Amos Brealey from Emmerdale.

It is crunching some numbers (and it might be a bit on fire too) and I’m expecting some recommendations imminently.

There were some teething troubles selecting the manager, Jimmy Sirrell hasn’t got back to me yet. Perhaps he’s on holiday…

Yep he's shit. And his performance pertaining to his contract is too Jebboesque for me.

Question for me is can we get better for the same munneh?

If yes go, if no keep

No sentiment. This is Foozball business

But what's his position ? He's been here how many years and we still don't know what position he plays. He doesn't seem to be CF, he's not good enough to play 10 so he's pushed out wide but he can't go round a man. It's a no from me, I'd rather spend 'his wages' on a good wide man

He's on holiday in Whitby but his teeth are in Staithes.

I think he plays best as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker.

Why do players have to have a singular position? Choudhury didn't seem to have a problem playing more than one. At other clubs, Scholes had no problems adapting from basically a 10 to a deep lying playmaker, Rooney (and to many extents Kane) played so deep late in his career he was effectively a central midfielder. If Beckham was coming through Man Utd's youth today he would be a right back. Bale started as a full back. And while I wasn't born when the Dutch teams of the 70s were a thing, I doubt they gave much of a shit about "position" either. Just look at the player's attributes, decide whether they coincide with how you want to play, and if the player offers value for money. If so, go for it, if not, glttl

Do we actually know why he hasn’t signed a new contract yet? I’m not saying he isn’t holding out for more money or anything, he well could be, but does anyone know conclusively?

If I’m honest no, I’m guessing

Why would anyone, outside of McCabe, rush to say "yes please" to the first offer of any sort of money being thrown in his direction, rather than waiting and mulling over his options?

Would we sign him today if he was at another club , you can ask that about all our players and quickly realise who we should replace and let go

This seems time to bring out the Brewster's Agent gimmick account

Don’t mind him as a person but the bottom line is he doesn’t cut it. He never looks dangerous, his positioning is poor, distribution is mediocre, threat of scoring is hardly existent,he’s been here 5 years now on £36k a week, his improvement is negligible. Yes he has had injuries but Berge had much worse, kicked on and looks a player worth his money. If he’s an attacking midfielder, when does he get into the box and if he’s a second striker, where is his goal output and contribution.

No idea, he ought to have snapped our hands off though. If he actually rates himself above a bog standard mid table Championship player after the last few years him and his agent need firing into space.

He’s on a par with Ben Osborn, I’d actually go as far as saying that Osborn made more meaningful contributions to the playing side during his time with us.

So, Rhian Brewster, he cost £20 million.

Over a period of 5 seasons he has played 119 games for us and scored 9 goals. Assisted 4.

That's an average of less than 24 games per season. And an average of 43 minutes per game. That's less than 2 goals per season and less than one assist.

Our most expensive player. On more than £1 million per year.

And you want to give him a new contract?
