Would that23m pay for the opposition wages? Maybe that’s just too much?£23 million.
Bargain.

Good to hear Wilder call out some of the derogatory comments he’s seen about Brewster as being “cheap & lazy” from people who have no idea of the journey he’s been on. Spot on.
Played some quality passes last night:
If the choice was between signing BBD or re-signing Brewster in the summer I’d choose Brewster.
What wages is he on now?Would offer Brewster a one year with option contract, but not on the wages he's on now, Diaz would depend on fee Saints want
According to footballleagueworld ,amongst others he's on £35,000pwWhat wages is he on now?
Doubt Brewster would take that.Would offer Brewster a one year with option contract, but not on the wages he's on now, Diaz would depend on fee Saints want
If and its a big if we do get to the Premiership we would need better than BBD, especially if we don't want too get tonked every week.I might be in the minority, but I'd sign both for next season. Both have more to show us what they can really do and for the relatively cheapish deals to get them both (im including wages and signing on fees as well as BBD transfer fee) they would both be a bargain at this time. To let Brewster go now after the money we have spent on him in these last 5 injury hit years would be just daft, especially when he's now getting fit and having an injury free run of games. Any new deal for Brewster to reflect the previous seasons though. He can't surely expect the same level of contract again.
Is that basic? With bonuses? performance related? Net? Gross?According to footballleagueworld ,amongst others he's on £35,000pw
Why bother askingIs that basic? With bonuses? performance related? Net? Gross?
So we've no idea then![]()
Yeah, very good point. I think you probably answered that yourself....Why bother asking
We all know he’s on big wages as he’s on the contract when we signed him for £20+ million. He’s not the player we thought we were buying and still isn’t so will be offered a deal on less terms I would imagine.Yeah, very good point. I think you probably answered that yourself....
But to humour you... because it highlights that saying you would reduce his wages when you don't know a) the budget, b) the wages hes on and multiple other factors is a bit pointless
Normally i find these discussions on wage speculation a little pointless. But for what it's worth i'll explain why, specifically to Brewster. We all know he’s on big wages as he’s on the contract when we signed him for £20+ million. He’s not the player we thought we were buying and still isn’t so will be offered a deal on less terms I would imagine.
irrelevant to me as a fan. Pay him his worth to the club.
The revisionism is good but he’s had 3 seasons of maximum 5/10 performances followed by this season where he’s been at best 7/10, probably 6/10 on average.Normally i find these discussions on wage speculation a little pointless. But for what it's worth i'll explain why, specifically to Brewster.
I don't think i've ever seen anything official as to what his wages are.
Football League world is not an official source. Not even close!
He was signed as a young player for a big fee, which we don't know how it was structured.
A big fee doesn't guarantee that he's on a big wage and we don't know the details of how that wage is structured.
We don't know the budget for next season, since we don't know the division we'll be in. We don't know where he sits in terms of earners at the club. Certainly performances this season would suggest that he's likely to be one of the top earners going forwards (with the current squad).
He's gone a long way this season to confirm the he can maintain his core fitness.
I'd suggest that we extend his contract for another 2-3 years based on this season. The wages, irrelevant to me as a fan. Pay him his worth to the club.
He's had some serious injuries which have played a huge part in the last 2-3 years. I don't get why people are so blinkered with this and just look at the money we've paid rather than the fact that he's come back multiple times and broken down with either the same injury or something else, only to come back and have the season he's had.The revisionism is good but he’s had 3 seasons of maximum 5/10 performances followed by this season where he’s been at best 7/10, probably 6/10 on average.
The money we’ve spent is now sunk but I wouldn’t be climbing over ourselves to give him 2 or 3 years when he’s only 6 half decent months out of 48.
Whilst we're posting for balance, he's played in behind often this season. Rotating with O'Hare, so, for shits and giggles, lets get ChatGPT's comparisonI didn't get the wow factor with brewster, he's a very ordinary player, who just happens to have been fit this season as he would be after a new contract..
This post is just for balance, and both of them wouldn't be good enough in the PL.
Stay in the championship, maybe Diaz..
I don't know but what's brewsters goals in his time here...remember he's a striker.
(I know he's been injured - but balance that out with he's been playing against some pretty bad defenders when he's actually fit)

Would we be looking to sign someone like Brewster from another championship club, based on his performance / stats? He's had some serious injuries which have played a huge part in the last 2-3 years. I don't get why people are so blinkered with this and just look at the money we've paid rather than the fact that he's come back multiple times and broken down with either the same injury or something else, only to come back and have the season he's had.
BBD's fee will already be agreed as we have the option to buy him, same with Choudhury.Would offer Brewster a one year with option contract, but not on the wages he's on now, Diaz would depend on fee Saints want
There would be outrage if we did.Would we be looking to sign someone like Brewster from another championship club, based on his performance / stats?
I'd say definitely not.
If I applied the eye test, I'd personally rate O'Hare quite a bit above Brewster. Both are miles of premier league quality, but that's another story. There would be outrage if we did.
But would you also be looking to sign O'hare based on his performance stats this season? Doubt it. But it was a proper jizz fest over him signing last summer... And he's also had a good season this season
I know that O'Hare offers a different option to Brewster, but it's Brewster for me.If I applied the eye test, I'd personally rate O'Hare quite a bit above Brewster. Both are miles of premier league quality, but that's another story.
