Yes because he has had a really rough time with injuries and not had a settled run in the team as a Striker.

Play him up top with Cannon/Campbell/Moore and I guarantee we will see more from him I thought he was our best player with his link up especially.
 
Always thought there’s been a player in Brewster. Proved it before joining us. Don’t think anyone can blame the lad for being so rough with his injury record. This was only one match but he’s still only 24. If he stays fit he can be a good player. The potentials there but maybe it won’t be achieved with us.

Wow…think some fans think we’re a charity.

You have players like Rak Sakyi and Brooks, who have given 8 and 9 out of 10 performances some games but then given 4 out of 10 performance other games.
So these talented youngsters who are inconsistent are probably worth a gamble.

The issue with Brewster is that he’s never put in a 8 out of 10 performance in the 4 years he’s been here.
In recent weeks he’s consistently doing a job with decent 6 and 7 out of 10 performances.

If we were fighting relegation in the Championship then Brewster would be an asset. 6 and 7 out of 10 performances are good enough.
However the problem is we’re a top end Championship team where we can accept the odd decent display but sooner or later a player needs to be really good or superb. A positive is Brewster does appear to be slowly getting better and his attitude and character is really good.

How can he do that when he has never had a settled run as a Striker with someone up top with him?

Fair enough if that was the case but he hasn't and I still think he will come good.

While I take your point, how can the club offer him the same money as he's had for 4 years with the return he's given so far?

I desperately want him to come good, but the club is a business - His injury record, while not his fault, has robbed us of half his contract. He needs to prove his worth, then his deal needs re-appraising.

You think Tommy Robinson is a misunderstood nice chap though, not sure many are going to take your opinion seriously.
 

That was his second goal this season. His second since 2022.
To listen to some you'd think it was the second coming of Christ!
Yes he took his goal well. Yes it came at a vital time. Yes it had an influence on the game.
All I 'll say is ,about bloody time he did something worthwhile!

Nice lad that he appears to be ,he's still behind in the pecking order of Brereton Diaz, Campbell, Moore and hopefully Cannon.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Given the amount of chances he’s had, and the number of misses statistically he was bound to put one away. When he starts to score consistently over 15/20 games we can discuss how he’s turned a corner.
 
Rhian been improving recently just half this forum will have you believe otherwise.

If you give Brewster an injury-free run of about 20 games, preferably playing with another striker like today, you'd see his quality consistently. Poor lad has had a terrible time with injuries, not like he can control it or anything. He has quality as a football player.

I admire his mental fortitude as well, he's been injured for so long, and especially as a young footballer, that can be debilitating. Brewdog gets up and gets back to work, the mark of a real man if you ask me.

Partially agree, he’s a decent player but the question is…what is his ceiling/ potential?
Some have been cruel suggesting he’ll end up a league 1 or even a league 2 player when he leaves us but I agree with you and believe he has some quality.
But I think his ceiling is average Championship level. I could imagine him joining Preston and having a decent career there.

Think it’s interesting to compare Tyrese Campbell with Brewster.
There are similarities because Campbell has also suffered terrible injuries and been out of the game.
He’s probably played less than Brewster but when he played on Saturday against Norwich and again tonight, you can see he’s a class above Brewster.
Knows when and where to make runs, this is related to intelligence, something you should never lose even when you’ve been injured.
Also Campbell is more composed in front of goal, he had a chance tonight when he received a pass from BBD.
Instead of blasting it at first chance, he dummied to shoot, then went around the defender to create a better angle, but shot too close to the keeper.

Totally agree about Brewsters mental fortitude and he seems to buy into the club, always showing he cares and gives 100%.
Even if a player has a poor game, as long as they have the right character and give 100% then they’ll get my support.

I reckon if he keeps getting more and more confident, he could have a career at Bramall Lane, but Preston would be a good fit for him. He's far, far too talented for L2, and much of that is down to blind Brewster hatred. I'm sure Brewster is just as let down by his career trajectory with tons of injuries as everyone else, but some of the hate is too much. I'll be completely transparent, I'm not sure I could handle constantly getting set back after working so hard to regain fitness, which is why I have massive respect for Brewster.
 
Brewster played well tonight, good instinctive finish and also had a good effort earlier in the game.

What more can he do than stay fit, try his best? That could well be his most important goal so far, and if he contributes to us going up, then he has repaid his fee.

He's obviously valued and popular member of the squad and there's a lot to be said for that. I can't imagine he'd be inundated with offers this summer so, providing he stays fit and continues putting in performances/contributing the odd goal, why not offer him a short deal on reduced wages? He clearly likes it here.

It is irrefutable that there is talent there, you don't get picked for England and Liverpool otherwise.

No chance ...Law of averages says he's going to score now and again if he's selected regularly...
I like his enthusiasm, however it's time to move to pastures new in the summer & I'm sure he leaves with all our best wishes .
 
I hope he continues to play well, but I wouldn’t really be keen on him getting a new deal. We all know his injury history and I think they’ll always be this cloud over him here now.

I think for his own benefit, a good end to the season will be great for his confidence and chances of getting a decent fresh start, in the summer. If he can get a few key goals for us along the way, that’ll be fantastic.
