Brewster as a no. 10

Having watched Brewster closely since his arrival I do feel he could adapt his game and become the new Mcgoldrick. Neither of them are quick or overly aggressive, and the bits of quality we have seen from Brewster is when he plays on the half turn. When he goes up against strong, aggressive centre halfs he gets brush aside easily
 



Tend to agree with this. More a link striker.

Concerning he is tagged as the new Billy Sharp.

He doesn't seem to possess the creativity, intelligence, or skill to be the creative attacking fulcrum in that role.

If he can't play against the big nasty bully boy CBs he has no future as a striker. Surely he came up against tough blokes when banging the goals in for Swansea?

No it's not about constantly looking for a role for him, it's more about creating the circumstances around which he was such a good goalscorer last season

I doubt Didzy was anything like what he is now when he was 19.

Disagree there. Pretty much the only thing he's been able to do, thus far, is drop a little deeper than you'd like a striker but once there, his vision and skill to pick a pass are sublime. On several occasions, already, he's threaded passes he had no right to make, to a player ahead of him. That ability is down to skill and vision.
 
Dont think he has enough ball control and dribbling skills,to anything other than a penalty area poacher,he even needs to up his speed of thought to be a success at that.

Could not see Brewster doing what McGoldrick did in the build up to the goal last nite and the actual scoring anticipation.
 
I think maybe as he gets older but not now for now he needs to work on how to use his body to be effective and start to do the dirty side of the game well.

He may be doing just that with another year or two of experience

He put a sublime pass through and then got on the end of the ball as it was crossed in, meeting it with a decent shot on target. It was a little bit too far out to give the keeper too much trouble, but it was a great piece of vision, control, anticipation and composure.
 
I think we should make a educated decision after 10 consecutive games next season, taking into consideration goals scored against opportunities and chances created for others. Or we could just talk bollocks about a teenager who hasn’t been given a fair crack of the whip in one of the most difficult leagues in football, in a team that doesn’t score and creates limited chances
 
Interesting thought. He certainly doesn't seem to work as a striker but his lack of strength/muscle he shows up front will be the same playing the Didzy role. He'll get pushed off the ball in midfield.

I think if we can build a role for him, where all he is asked to do is volley the ball from the edge of the box, all will be fine.
 



We will start to see Brewster bagging goals and assists towards end of this season as he will start to settle in to the team better, just like Rammers has... i think Brew has taken a bit longer due to age and the lack of opportunity/competition for the striker positions.

Once he has as many appearances as Rammers does so far (he is 8 apps off) we will start to see the potential... i personally don’t think he is a Didzy, i think he is talented enough to play that role, but will actually become more potent in front of goal. Thinking a mixture between Didzy and Sharp 😮

Stick with him as 1st choice for remainder of the season i say.

fair enough Ron but for £23m I think we should expect he DOES have the right to make a decent forward pass around the box. I still prefer a dedicated attacking forward midfielder playing the ball through to him though, for him to score, than him being the playmaker.

Maybe it’s a CW ploy so Liverpool won’t be interested in taking him back.
 
I am desperate to see the lad get a chance for a one or two touch finish, his shooting technique looks exceptional from the little I have seen

I think he needs time he’s only made 30 senior career appearances. His record at youth level is exemplary but it looks like the physicality of the prem is a bit much right now. I know it’s a cliche but a full pre season with a strength and conditioning regime might help him.

I don't it's about the amount of appearances he's had, more about the minutes of 1st team football he's actually played which has played a part in his settling and development.

Brewster - 794
Rammers - 2430

Quite a large difference, as you can see, which equates to way more than 8 appearances (about 18 full games).
 
9 10 11 or 12, I think he should play every game until the end of the season.
We've nothing to lose and he has everything to gain and prove he is the striker we shelled out so much for.
 
McGoldrick puts a shift in, tackles back and works for the team. I've not really seen much of these capabilities from Brewster so far.
