I'd much rather he didn't play. He's coming back from a serious injury and has played what, 2 or 3 under 21 games and only one of them was for the full 90.

Smacks of desperation to me. Freeman has been playing well too. Granted the last two haven't been his best games but he's getting next to no protection with Baxter playing out of position in front of him and drifting all over the pitch.

Play freeman in front of him. Freeman keeps going forward and not getting back anyway. You could actually hear someone shout ohh where's freeman for the first goal on the sky highlights from Tuesday, he is a liability defensively due to his disappearing acts lately.

Is he going to win us games from Right back..?

Bring In his three opos from the 2014 run in of of Coady, Maguire and Murphy with him and it might make a difference....

But those ships have sailed.

Brayford being interviewed by Alan Biggs on Sheffield Live apparently tonight. Was on 7pm (repeated at 11pm) - anyone see it?

Adkins seemed to suggest John would be back but I would be surprised if he starts the match.

Someone with John's passion and skill is what the team need right now regardless of whether he is playing right back or at centre back.

As for J Wallace he may as well start looking for a new career.

He has been a defensive liability since Janurary. Time and time again when the other team are on the attack I actually point out where he is to LS26BLADE For someone who has played football as a centre half and also played at full back albeit at a limited level and I can see it clear as day.

It was on Sheffield Live.

So No.

I braved it for the 11pm showing! (Missing Question Time into the bargain, Ken Livingstone & all...)

Brayford all set for lift-off, apparently. Could he be back for Barnsley? Hell of a boost right now, if so.
He came across great, just as you'd expect. It's the sense of responsibility that shone through (which is needed more than ever, clearly), as well as lack of ego (the team before the individual, etc). Great stuff.

Toby Perkins, MP for Chesterfield, who was on too was very interesting as well - surprisingly enough (to me, anyway) a proper opinionated & knowledgeable Blade. Implicitly was pretty critical of Adkins.

Hopefully it'll be viewable through a link on Biggs' twatter account in a day or two (these things usually are, thinking back to JCR's interview on the same show a few weeks back).

Perhaps it will give the fans a boost tomorrow and keep them positive during the game. He's part of the answer, but not all. The team isn't going to totally perform with just one decent player introduced.

Let's hope the optimism being shown here does not descend into criticism if he doesn't match expectations. He's been out for a while, he needs to become match fit, let's hope he's the missing bit of the jigsaw. If not it's going to be a long messy season.

I don't particularly remember him matching expectations at the end of last season although to be fair, Clough persisted in playing him at CB. I suspect the fact he's back will have a desired effect tomorrow as much as what he may or may not actually achieve.

A right back cannot save a struggling team on his own but I don't think we can under-estimate what he adds to the team and the fans.

Playing him at CB was what got him injured in the first place. He is not built to play at CB

I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that we'll see Basham back in midfield, and Brayford at CB. I'm already picturing the resultant meltdown...

The only reason for that could be that it's potentially less demanding for a comeback at CB rather than RB but apart from that, despite how badly everyone else has been in that position of late, it's a waste him being played there.
