Where’s that gone?

Of all things that’s the hardest pill to swallow. Even after the new year I’d say we’re the bravest team in the championship.

We’d go for it, get 1, then go again and get a 2nd. Even get a third before we think about shutting up shop. That’s gone - and it’s deserted us when we need it most.

Is it the players? Is it the management? Is it a bit of both? Either way ultimately it’s cost us in the promotion race - if we have even a hint of a chance in the play offs we simply HAVE to get that bravery back.

It’s got us so near to the promised land - why change it now?
The 2 bravest are the one’s going up.

totally agree with this

i keep referring to the Hull win 1-0
even in a tight game where we protected the lead--we protected by attacking and moving forward and pressing them back...not this consistently clinging on for grim death

our very own methods are betraying us

At 1-0 some players clearly didn’t want to make the usual runs because they were nervous of being caught out. Previous promotion teams have hit nervous spells at this stage too - it’s human.

I guess it’s tough to play our usual way with so much at stake and just within reach. But we need to find a way.

Agree that the two bravest and most attacking sides are going up. Who's to say we would have taken it this far though if we had continued as we had pre West Brom though? Essentially I just think Norwich and Leeds have better players. We've done well to get the play offs but obviously we've had to do it in United style by getting so close to automatic!

Watch this Leeds team. They don’t seem to be suffering from that.

It's Sheffield United, spineless and lack of bottle are it's best trademark

I see Leeds haven't lost their bottle.
24 shots at goal, 6 on target, 63% possession most of it in an attacking sense, 417 passes made so far, 71% pass accuracy, and only 6 fouls given away.

Good on them. But they were last week.

If they go on to do it it’ll be because they’ve proven themselves the better side. Mental strength is part of football. But we’re just a win behind them...

Probably worth going and supporting someone else then. Leeds and Norwich would welcome your support.

You might be right, I'm far too forward thinking and ambitious to support Sheffield United. I work very well under pressure and don't bottle out when I get a chance to better myself

You’re about as modest as a Leeds fan as well.

Yes, I've done ok for myself following on from a number of personal tragedies, through having bottle and conviction. I'm not afraid to wake up in the morning and do my job unlike those spineless cunts

I think we've deliberately changed tack and Wilder pretty much said so in his interview the other week.

In fairness it has worked in some games, even if we've rode our luck.

We've surpassed expectations and I can't bring myself to criticise too much but I think we pretty much all know that today is likely significant.

That second half performance was really poor and Wilder has to take a good proportion of the blame. With 10 minutes to go Stevens was stood arms outstretched signalling to the bench about what the plan was, and got no response.

The middle of the park was too pedestrian but I can't believe we made no effort to stop crosses to the giants congregating in our box. They missed a few free headers and the stats show they had 7 shots on target to our 2.

We have ourselves to blame today and ourselves only against mediocre opposition.

Yes it looked like a foul on Didzy but why he failed to square the ball for a tap in second half only he knows.

Great season and praise is deserved for all. Huge task to organise and raise ourselves for the play offs, injuries aside.

So this set of players finishing 3rd in the league is them being ‘spineless cunts’ is it?

Poor performance today but comments like that are pathetic. I’m sure you could do much better though.

Ok, my last word on the subject
WE HAVE BEEN 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD IN THE LEAGUE BY PLAYING ATTACKING, ENTERTAINING, QUICK, RELENTLESS, FORWARD THINKING FOOTBALL

We have allowed the top two to pull away from us by playing SHIT, NEGATIVE, FRIGHTENED, SPINELESS, GARBAGE

Surely you can see the difference

No need to shout

For me it was the lack of fight in the last 2 games particularly

Against Brentford , Leeds, west brom we were throwing bodies in the way to stop crosses , winning every 2nd ball and had a never say die attitude

Today we were rubbish and looked knackered with no fight at all
Lost count of the amount of times fleck , Norwood , coutts , duffy etc didnt win a challenge and the likes of freeman didnt stop a cross coming in

We just look out on our feet

So you start calling the players “spineless cunts”. Very useful and supportive to probably the best bunch of players of the last 20 years.

We’ve had a few poor performances, however over the season we are likely to be the 3rd best team in the league, a great achievement.

We finished last season poorly and missed out on the play offs we’ll go at least one better this season and be in the play offs.

I agree ‘tuftyball’ is needed, see my comments elsewhere after the game today. The difference is that I can use constructive criticism instead of resorting to name calling behind an internet pseudonym.

Your personal achievements in your line of work are not really a justification for calling the players “spineless cunts” are they?

They're spineless cunts, we've seen them for what they are now. They've chucked it away because they lacked the bottle to grab it

An honest assessment thank you, & there is no shame in giving praise where it is due.
