Always wondered why we allow the away fans to sit behind the goal. At least put them in the upper Bramall lane stand neutralizing the away goal. Man U, Chelsea, Newcastle and others have home fans at both ends, surely we could / should do this. Has it ever been this way?

The pitch.
We play better away....hello...often on smaller pitches....I am sure Bassett made the pitch narrower.
If you cant play the ball. Tighten up the pitch.

This is why we will lose at Wembley again. Faster teams will pass around us.
I think we will win at Yeovil again (on a small pitch).

Discuss.

Yeah I agree with the away fans thing. Do what Ipswich do - split them up!

Yeovil's pitch is bigger than ours

Making the pitch smaller is one option. A better one would be to stop bringing in painfully slow and unfit players. Assuming they beat Swindon, Brentford's pacey team will have a field day against us or Yeovil on the big Wembley pitch.

You are right. 115 x 72. Ours is 112 x 72. Which makes theirs longer by 2m. Thats funny, I normally describe something as longer than it actually is. This is the plan for Yeovil then...park the bus.

Bassett kept the width but shortened the length

Warnock reduced the width for the premier league...that worked didn't it

I though it was before the Prem season?

It looked daft on the JSS side when they first did it.

I like the arrangement with the away fans as it is. I suppose there may be some advantage in trying to silence them, but the problem is if you silence the away fans you usually silence the home fans too. Often the away fans being noisy is what gets Bramall Lane going.

The most effective away-fan-silencing technique I've seen is Molineux - spread out the away fans along a very long, very shallow section all along one side of the ground.

Whether it benefits the home side or not, I'm against it on principle. We should be trying to improve the atmosphere at English football grounds (from either set of fans) not trying to kill it.

115 minus 112 is ... er... 3 metres.

It's not rocket science.

Our pitch, like every other pitch in the entire known universe is measured in yards not metres
I was going to say that too but when you convert it then theres about 2.6 metres difference between the 2 so it isn't 2 but it isn't 3 either!

Back in the old days at Roker Park we had two corners with Makems in the middle. That made things interesting/lively. Reading and Coventry stick you in a corner behind the goal depending on attendance they make it bigger. Always felt a bit short changed. Would enable us to move round the corner as and when we get better attendances.

We should put the away fans up in the top corner of the away end or even squash them into the Westfield Corner.
