Bramall Lane Upper Tier For Blades!

Jeez, not that I need to explain myself to anyone on here, but I moved away from Sheffield for work a couple of years ago, so I pick and choose what games I go to now (which usually ends up being around 10 a season). I was a season ticket holder on the Kop for most of my life before that.

I'm not willing to pay £25 for a restricted view seat on the wings of the Kop, it's as simple as that....I don't need to say 'I was there when we played Scunthorpe at home in League One'...I'll be fine listening to it on BladesPlayer. The point is, should Utd have made the upper tier available to Blades, they would have got more home fans in. They're being more accomodating to away fans than they are the home support by offering them one of the best views in the ground.

Saying we can't give the away fans the lower tier for security reasons is just poor! The away support used to go there every week and I can't once remember any kind of trouble resulting from it!

Well what a fucking disaster that was.

Surrendering the lower tier to about 500 Scunthorpe fans when our own fans could have probably filled it.

They could have all squeezed into the upper FFS, even if it meant reducing our allocation up there a little bit.

This has to go down as a fuck up from the club.

Could we? How many people couldn't get tickets in United areas?
As a Westfield corner person I couldn't see the lower tier for the Wimbledon game, how full was it - did the Club decide more Scunny fans would buy tickets in there than United likely to?

I have picked out that sentence, as for me it's about giving OUR fans choice.

From Monday onwards the only choice was crap wing seats on the kop or single seats in SS or Westfield.

It's all about our fans......not the opposition.

BL Lower for away fans - 2,990 - that's your lot.

South Yorks Police had segregated Bramall Lane after the game, not letting any United fans walk down it so I very much doubt they would have let the Club sell tickets for home & away fans in the same stand if they're then going to blockade the road. But still, United have cocked up here....

I take your point

we did it in the Premier league - so what is the difference now.

We are therefore going to have a massive problem next season unless someone gets their heads together and solves the problem.

It is a simple question to anyone - how do other clubs resolve segregation after a game at places like Highbury and the Etihad where there is freedom to walk round all areas of the ground. Leeds now house away fans in the "main" stand.

It's only a logistical problem that doesn't want to be faced. Gt Manchester police are very very good at crowd control - SYP should ask for bloody lessons.

For a run of the mill game, the Lower Tier should be fine I'd say. The view is crap so I don't think we should be putting home fans in.
If there's an issue with segregation for any kind of "needle" match then as sad as I am to say it, the Westfield Upper Corner is segregated and holds a decent amount of fans in. The problem is it's by far the best stand in the ground :(

I agree with this. Unfortunetly some of our support just don't get it. There's a reason why the South Stand and Westfield corner sold out today and the Kop didn't.

Did you only just hear that this game was happening?

You know they sell tickets in advance?

The Kop does need to be knocked down and I can understand why someone would not want to sit there.

Hopefully when safe standing is introduced, we could knock down the Kop including the hill underneath and increase the capacity without it costing much more than the current expansion plans we have in place.

Westfield Corner isn't really segregated, one of the exits goes into the south stand and they'd have to block off a big chunk of H block to stop any away fans chucking stuff off the balcony at that side.

There were loads of crybaby Ricky types up there today, moaning about having to sit up in the corner with a shit view (really?) cos there was no room on the kop and thinking we should have won about 20-0 because we're Sheffield United and anything but winning is unacceptable to their tiny self-entitled brains.

What the fuck are you talking about you stupid ignorant little cunt?

You have no idea whatsoever, do you?

You've literally whined like a bitch in every single post I've seen today (possibly ever), needlessly negative fans like you who want everything they want and cry like a baby if they don't get there own way are the worst thing about being a Blade. At least you got to call someone a cunt, maybe now you're happy for the first time all day cos you got to use a bad word on an internet forum.

Well don't talk to me like a cunt and I won't call you a cunt.

To be unable to differentiate between an unwarranted self entitled tantrum and reasoned understandable frustration shows an extreme lack of intelligence. Tiny brain indeed.

You're clearly ignorant and stupid and I couldn't care less what someone like you thinks of me, but you're completely wrong anyway.

What a wanker I am for wanting us to win games and get promoted! Bad Blade ruining it for the great ones like you!

Is there any way to express frustration without being a crybaby in that tiny brain of yours?

I didn't talk to you at all, I just referenced people who were talking in a similar way to how you have tonight.

Reasonable frustration and being not happy one bit are two very different things. I'm reasonably frustrated by not winning, we still played very well today and I'm happy we didn't get completely outplayed by our promotion rivals and escape with a point like the other team did.

Ignorant and stupid? that's just more name-calling for no good reason, the rest of that sentence sounds like a Donald Trump press conference with the media.

Wanting us to win games is fine, expecting us to win games and throwing a strop when we don't does make you come off like a bit of a wanker. I'm not a great Blade (I dislike Basham and think Hanson had a very ordinary debut), but some of our fans do get a bit Wendy-like at times with their expecting us to win just cos we're Sheff Utd (that criticisms not even aimed at you).

Not massively overreacting to everything (like calling someone a cunt, ignorant or stupid with little provocation) and being critical in a constructive way expresses frustration without being a cry baby. Almost everyone else manages it.

Ginger Gnome please leave the ad hominem attacks ("crybaby Ricky types") at the door please - especially if your going to spit the dummy out when you get some back.As for the subject at hand: If the Blades are promoted this is going to be a recurring problem if its not sorted quickly with the likes of Wendy, Leeds, Villa Newcastle, Derby, Forest etc being potential opponents. An obvious remedy would be developing the stadium but, I've no idea whether this is likely or not.

Of course I had provocation. You disrespectfully threw me into a category I don't belong in and you had no reason to do so. You deserve disrespect in return. If you've got a problem with my posts how about responding to them rather than bitching about me on this thread?

Just go back and read my thread and you'll realise how positive and constructive it actually is.

It's perfectly reasonable to be 'not happy one bit' with that result today. And the result is what I was talking about. I said it was a decent performance. My reasoning is in my posts, maybe you skipped over it.

Again, you clearly can't identify the difference between a strop and what I've posted tonight. We have no right to win any game and self entitlement doesn't come into it. But when you dominate games and don't win, which has happened far too often this season, you have every right to feel aggrieved when it happens again. I bet the players feel that way, and so they should. I'm not expecting us to beat the opposition because we're Sheffield Unted, but because we're better than them every week.

I'm not expecting us to beat the opposition because we're Sheffield Unted, but because we're now much better than every team we play.

Got to agree, there was a big gulf in class and quality between the 2 teams today.
When you consider it was 1st v 2nd in the table then it bodes well for the future.
Will be interesting to see how we cope when we come up against good teams in the Championship.

I read it, it's overly-negative even if there are some fair ciritcisms, as are a lot of other things you've said tonight, and it did come off as stoppy (you're reaction to me mentioning you was definitely overly stroppy and unwarranted and I think it'd ridiculous how I'm the one who gets criticised for it).

A lot of people at the game were saying the exact same things as you and definitely were in a strop and acting like self-entitled cry-babies, that's why they got tagged in with you, if that offends you I'm sorry, but that doesn't justify you lashing out and calling me a cunt, that was definitely acting like a crybaby, just because somebody implied something vaguely critical about you.

Hopefully everyone takes your constructive criticisms on board and we smash Bolton next week. UTB

Why are so many on here incapable of debating a subject about United without having to resort to petty little arguments/personal insults? It's all very sad.

Long term I think we all agree that the Kop needs demolishing and re-built...you would think our Chairman with the background he has in property development would be keen to make this happen and bring us a modern day Kop, rather than just slap on an extention to the mess that's currently there.

Short term, until the process of bringing us a new Kop happens, the Bramall Lane Upper Tier should be given to the home support letting the away fans deal with the lower tier. It makes sense in every aspect, we would have vocal support at every side of the pitch, better views on offer to the home support and I'm convinced it would bring in better attendances.

Come on FFS. You unjustifiably called me a crybaby and implied that I'm self entitled with a tiny brain. In my book that's beyond vaguely critical. It's insulting, unnecessary and bloody ridiculous. I can't believe my reaction surprises you.

Our Chairman is an expert in property developement.
Also remember he's an investor not a benefactor

McCabe will only make improvements if there's a strong business case.
So he will weigh up costs, compared to income and calculate how many years it might take to get his money back. As it's unlikely well sell out an expanded Kop unless we were back in the PL then it might take many years to see any justification from a massive investment. That's why he'll incorporate alternative income steams into the design like conference/ catering facilities, shopping outlets and maybe residential flats

Also regards giving the lower tier to the away fans you can bet SU will do anything that increases income. So far there's been little evidence that we'll fill the ground unless it's a one- off game for promotion.

Im certain that the only time we'll get the whole of the upper tier is for the last match of the season at home to Chesterfield. For that match I would think Chezzie will have the bottom tier if we're certain of promotion.
