... According to Robbie Savage. Yes, I know we should make allowances for buffoonery but really, how do some of these cocks get away with making a living from punditry?
I was a passenger in car coming back from match last night so no control over in car 'entertainment' and was sat in back not particularly paying attention to the attention seeking prima Donna that is Savage.
In his post match rambling he was on about how hard done to SUFC were and mused on how the replay might have panned out.... Big crowd (√), floodlights (well, yes Robbie, perceptive) then..... 'rubbish pitch'....
Sigh.... I mean, should Savage know we now have state of art facility with our playing surface? No, on reflection i'm sure his research doesn't go anywhere near that far, but at that moment, in my disappointed mood, I ripped into the clueless vain twat with, well, words to that effect....
I know I'm probably being a tad picky, but grrrrrr....

It probably was last time he played on it, and I'm sure he won't have visited since the new one installed ( do you install a pitch?).

It's just a case of a so-called 'commentator' not doing his research. Does Savage think Currie still plays for us? Perhaps we should have saved £1m, had a 'rubbish pitch' and got people like Savage eulogising a la Eastleigh (played on a pitch yesterday that should never have been passed fit) and the 'magic of the Cup'.

I was thinking this with Radio Sheffield yesterday, the commentator kept justifying his ignorance of Salford by saying that all he knew was from Match of the Day and because they were so famous he didn't need to know anymore. He also backed up his comments about how shite Salford were by questioning whether this was a normal performance for them. As if to suggest that the listener should then tweet in.

Keith Edwards wasn't quite as bad and in some ways its not his job to analyse the opposition because of the type of summary he provides on individual Blades players or the tactics. However, i thought he shouldve known a little more about the opposition.

So should Savage and the Radio Sheffield Commentator know more? have done their research? Yes, absolutely. They should know what Salford were to expect if a replay were to arise. They are paid football 'experts' on the national and local media.

Savage not knowing that we have a Desso pitch is surely an embarrassment to his employers and their research teams

Reminds me of reading after we'd drawn at home to Fulham in the cup a couple of years ago that we had "earned a money-spinning replay away at Premier League Fulham," despite the attendance being significantly higher at Bramall Lane than it was at Craven Cottage.

The media focus is so much on the premier league these days that the pundits aren't expected to have any knowledge of anything below the premier league.
