Bottlejobs

I don’t believe that for a minute.

You’ve got a brass neck to criticise the club when you are a part of them losing revenue

You can believe the earth is flat if you want mate, doesn't mean it's true.

I suppose you dont watch any of them dodgy Facebook streams anymore?

To be honest, I heard just as many bottlejobs and fuckwits on the terrace today. Absolutely zero attempt to encourage or support the team from start to finish, just moans and criticism. While I agree that fans have a right to air their views, surely they should also balance that with some attempt to raise the players, not just sit their bleating on for 90 minutes.

We aren’t bottlers, but just maybe a tad stupid eh? We play like we’re on a “job n knock.” We get our noses in front then clock off.

I think it's nerves/fear/anxiety/hesitancy/imposter syndrome
Clock off sounds like apathy and I don't think that applies to this lot

I don't agree with everything said in this thread, however that 2nd half performance today from about 60 mins was genuinely one of the biggest bottle jobs I've ever had the misfortune to witness.

From almost the moment Sharp went off, we looked shit scared and completely error prone. We stopped doing what we had been doing (which hadn't been brilliant, but had been enough, and for the first 10 mins of the second half we actually looked very good and go the goal), and went deeper and deeper and invited them onto us.

We also weren't even great defensively. They won far too much, Hendo needs to learn to push shots behind instead of back into play (not the goal, but the shot before the penalty) - if he does, or one of a several other things (foul on McG in the last minute) goes our way (I'd like to see the McG shot that went across the goal again) we probably win. But it would very much have been papering over some pretty significant cracks.

Some of the comments on this and other threads have been disgraceful. But it is hard to argue with either of these claims from Rob86 . If we had lost that game 1-2, or 1-3, could any of us really have said that we didn't deserve it?

We are so close. But we haven't put in a consistently good 90 minutes for weeks. Me, I'm a bit baffled, me.
I’m not a meltdown fanatic (maybe a bit) but I found myself properly flouncing today purely because of the performance. I’d take a 1-1 ‘we battered them, played really well, but were robbed’ but the reality is, we weren’t robbed but just out fought. The Adkins favourite phrase ‘desire’ just didn’t seem to be there and that is what pissed me off more than the result.

I watched Leeds v Pigs and the Leeds performance is what I would expect from an automatic promotion chasing team.

We haven’t played the ‘pleasure to watch’ football for many weeks now. We have kept clean sheets but gone is the free flowing fearless attacking football.
Everything changed after the final 10 minute collapse at Villa Park.We decided to sacrifice our 'risky' for 'safe' football which is fine if you don't concede, but a problem if you do !!

Well I'll give you a clue were still in the Championship and we still will be this time next season

Garbage performance
Garbage management

Sitting back on a 1:0 lead AGAIN against a team not looking at all dangerous. Fucking stupid.

Bash, Sharp and Egan out. Can't play Hogan against Villa. Getting slaughtered in the semi-finals of the play-offs it is then because this team are struggling.

Henderson, Stevens and McGoldrick were good. The rest were a steaming pile. Coutts looks like a pub footballer. Freeman drinks like a pub footballer. Madine is just clumsy and constantly fouls and backs in and wonders why he gets nothing. Duffy was most likely to set up a Millwall goal until he went off.

And Wilder should be barred from any fucking Peroni this weekend.

Unlucky ,you must be gutted.

Just goes to show you how folk can be so short sighted

You're the clown. It was abysmal today. Off and on the pitch. Don't accuse people of being pigs just because they're not clappers. Overreaction? Possibly, but if Leeds win tonight that's out season likely done. We all know out play-off history and we look tired and weary, both in thought and deed. I can't see us winning a play-off game. and with 3 important players out for at least 3 games by the look of it. Our goose is probably cooked.

BUMP

I stand by what I wrote here. It was a complete bottle job against Millwall.

We have had that bottle back in spades in the last 2 games. No complaints from me at all on that front.

It's almost as if teams can play well or poorly in big games, and the term "bottle" is just nonsense.

Personally I think those that feel the need to dig up threads posted with anger frustration and disappointment in the heat of the moment are deserving of more derision than the op's.
So easy to ridicule retrospectively. Why not just rejoice in where we are and hopefully what we are about to achieve on Saturday.
No need for the bigger blade small penis attitude.
We are all Blades!

We did bottle it against Millwall, the pressure got to us in that last 10-20 mins...

But we’ve clearly gone and collectively pulled ourselves together and played much more like ourselves v Forest. Probably because we had nothing to lose

Leeds surprised everyone losing to Wigan and they left themselves with a really hard game against Brentford.

The pressure has got to the blades and Leeds perhaps were a bit cocky since we drew with Millwall. Oddly I don’t think Norwich can have bottled it due to pressure as they’ve Drawn their last four. That seems more like a side out of form.

Did the pressure get to us against Milwall or was it something else? Tactical? Fitness? Losing two of our better players to injury? Going down to 10 men?

My point being that a variety of factors lead to us dropping points agasint Milwall and Bristol. To put it down simply to "bottle" is typical of the average, short-sighted football fan.

Our players have played in plenty of big, high-pressure games; they win some, they don't win some. Just like Norwich, just like Leeds.

To accuse Leeds or Norwich of bottling it also belittles our teams achievements. We will finish where we finish based on how many points we gained over the season compared to our opponents, rather than based on a couple of results at the end of the season.

I stand by my opinion that the term "bottle" is meaningless.

No, not at all. I was fucking furious after the Millwall game when some people decided out players were bottlejobs and deserved the treatment they gave them.

Against Millwall the players looked absolutely shattered after giving it everything against Preston, Birmingham and Millwall, towards the end of the Millwall match they looked like they had nothing left to give after giving their all, all season long in a magnificent season long effort. It was disgraceful that certain elements of our fan base to label our players ‘bottlejobs’. There is a time and place to criticise the players when they are deserving of criticism but after the Millwall match it wasn’t.

Not when it's often the same posters finding issues regardless.
