exactly what was asked for , unloading some crap
to bring in something better

Would the "crap" we are unloading be Sheffield United players? Players that previous managers hoped would do well and enhance the team.

I am sure you didn't mean it (or maybe you did!) but referring to players as 'some crap' does grate a bit with me.

On the whole released players may not be good enough or have injury issues or we may have better players in their position but do give them a bit of respect....Just sayin'

was only using references the negative posters would relate to said players
players that have no future here is a better description

Meanwhile "little" Peterborough - who I think someone mentioned had more players listed on Saturday's programme than we did - have just extended the loan of that classy West Ham midfielder who scored their third. This coming a few days after bringing Lawrie Wilson in on loan. They're also giving trials to two non-league players.

Some clubs are progressive & proactive in transfer windows, others are constrained & negative...

We have too many players full-stop. We have too many players not adding anything to our match-day squad full-stop. Players need to go before anyone else can be brought in full-stop. We cannot afford to carry players who are not good enough and will never make a positive contribution to the achievement of our ambitions full-stop.

Criticising or nit-picking how an individual chooses to describe the contribution or non-contribution of some of our squad is frankly irrelevant and an unnecessary distraction from the hard work that NA needs to do in the JTW and in the Summer.

Spot on - our downfall last season was changing the starting 11 too often. You could never predict the start 11 and we NEED consistency. I'd be happy with 12/14 players leaving the club then bringing in 2 match fit players. For me, Higdon, Sammon, Alcock, Baxter, Dimaio, McFadzean, Harris, J.Wallace can all leave permanently. Scougs, McGahey and Kennedy out on loan. Then bring in a CB and a striker. Possibly also another central midfielder on loan while Flo Cuvelier gets back up to match fitness.

Goalposts and jam tomorrow put back yet again.
Just a few weeks ago it was "actively working towards the January window"; now we're in the window it's "We can't get any in before we get some out"; and I suspect on Feb 1st we'll get the standard, "We were looking at some, but we just couldn't quite get the deal done in time"; with the promise that the good times will definitely return in the summer and that everyone should still renew.

There's a thread elsewhere on this forum detailing precisely which players are in/out of contract at the end of the season.....

Of last Saturday's starting 11 only 5 are contracted after June (Brayford, Coutts, Bash, Billy & Woolford)

There are then only 6 more contracted after June (Freeman, Adams, Reed, McNulty, Diego and Scougall - who has been told he can go) - so 10 in total

All the rest are history after June - will be interesting

You know you can just use a full stop instead of saying full stop at the end of each sentence right?

I suspect that a reason for the can't-be-arsed nature we've seen too frequently this season is influenced by the numbers on the books. There was a part of David Weir's autobiography I remember in which he talked of the development of cliques in the Everton squad, largely fed by the fact there were plenty of players in an oversized club with no chance of being involved in the first team (Mitch Ward highlighted as a bad apple). It undermined the overall atmosphere, and prevented players from being a close-knit cohesive unit all fighting for each other.

I reckon this is as important a factor as finance on the need to cut down the squad. This potentially has knock-on effects for the youth players too if there are so many established pros to get past to even get a place on the bench.

Yep, and I wonder what Louis Reed thinks when he sees Baxter getting chance after chance ahead of him.

Really sorry but the time for sentiment is well and truly over, some of them are fucking crap. And some of us need to wake up to that fact, sorry for any hurt feelings...

Enough is enough when we're putting roots down in the third division, and getting the odd pasting at home from village teams, call that disrespectful but they are some of them, were browned off cause we can't get more that 7,800 for old Trafford ( a game we should lose handsomely ) but there we are paying a shitload of cash in case we have a miracle result on Saturday, were not the same as Peterborough, sorry but were not.... 24,500 on the Monday against Bradford, was the third highest attendance outside the premier league.... Jim Phipps was amazed at our passion and dedication, the way our board sells us down the river I'm amazed as well....

Careful Tezza.......the grammer Police might get you !!! :)

No complaints from me on the sentiments you express. Our fans deserve better. Swift and decisive action is required NOW to save our season. If that cannot be taken in the JTW then this should only be postponed until the Summer when a number of players are out of contract. Its about time we got out of this division because I fear the patience of our unbelievably loyal fans is being tested almost to the limit.

Totally agree Old Skool I will be happy if we spend our money releasing players who are permanently injured, not good enough, we should identify them easily because we never see them in a shirt, just pay em up, see what we can do with the rest of the season and look to next summer, not giving up on this one just yet, but we'd be scraping up and that would probably mean a relegation battle if successful .....
