Most bookies have got us to win at 2-to-1 and Sheffield Wednesday to win at 3.7-to-1.

I find this quite interesting because last season when we were second in the league when we went to Hillsborough, us to win was 3-to-1 and Sheffield Wednesday to win was 2.5-to-1.

Considering how much worse we are this season I am shocked that the odds for us to win the derby have increased. Can anyone think why? Obviously Sheffield Wednesday are in a much worse state but form goes out the window for a derby match so i’m unsure why the bookies are favouriting us.

Mix of a few things, I imagine. Although we were second in the league, we were winning games 1-0 and always made hard work of it at the end. When we went to the rust bucket last season, they'd beat both Plymouth and Norwich putting 3 goals past both teams. Whereas we'd beat Preston 1-0 and drew 1-1 to Bristol City.

They're a basket case this season and we're not much better, but they've at least got some cohesion as a team and it will be a lively crowd now they've all come out the woodwork again. We've just got to hope the quality of our players will be the difference. They've not beaten us for 13 years.

I'm not buying into the idea of not watching it. It's a bloody derby and although the current lads in red and white aren't a patch on those from 2017, it wouldn't be the first time we've got into this with a doubt. Fingers crossed the international break has been useful and we put these fuckers to bed. UTB.

Are you sure those odds are correct? By my reckoning you could have a tenner on each result and be guaranteed your money back including the stake regardless of the result. It's essentially a free bet. Not an expert and could be wrong?

We are evens, not 2/1. The pigs, about 11/4, Draw 9/4.

If you put £1.00 on us, and we win (we won't) you get £2.00 back (including stake).

These are decimal odds.

Don't want to see a fearful, pathetic 0-0

Go there to score goals, go there to win

If it goes wrong and we lose, so be it. It wouldn't be the most painful one to lose, for me at least

Wouldn't be touching us at all at those odds

Draw probably is most likely, Pigs win if anything

Any Blade who puts cash on a pigs win isn't a Blade at all, hate them with a passion and if they win I don't want to make cash out of it.
Often covers the cost of the day if the worst happens to soften the blow a bit. Dont see the problem with it myself.

You're getting your odds mixed up, as another poster has said.

2.00 in decimal odds isn't 2/1. It's 1/1 (evens).
Think of it as what you'd get back if you put £1 on (so £2 back at 2.00, £3.70 back at 3.7 etc).

Once you make the switch to decimal odds, it works a lot better than fractional odds.

Yeah, but it could be a draw. Then you'd win fuck all.

You’d get £34 including your stake.
Don’t think so but it's maybe different for online betting. If I put a tenner on a 3.4 to 1 bet in Ladbrokes I'd definitely get £44 quid back. Anyway Im not having a bet so it's not that deep really. Just hoping for a Blades win however it comes.

It isn’t “3.4 to 1”! The numbers you’re quoting aren’t “odds” - they’re decimals. Different bookies have different ways of expressing the payoffs, and you’re confusing the two different ways (which is why you think there’s a loophole ‘free bet’).

Based on the decimals on that site, if you stuck £10 on each outcome (£30 total), you’d get back:

£20 if United win (so you’d lose £10)
£34 if it’s a draw (so you’d win £4)
£37 if Wednesday win (so you’d win £7)

It definitely isn’t a free bet.

That's me told. I'm rubbish at maths, and I hate betting. I'm nearly competent at the English language, and so when I saw that you'd said you could place a bet on both results, and still win, I thought "aha, but what about the draw? - that's 4 possible results, not both. I'll try and act clever here, and tell him he'd win fuck all"

Then I tried to claim I was competent in the English language.

It's not going well.

Anyway, I hope any fucker betting for utd to lose, lose.
