Bolton - appoint Phil Parkinson as new manager 22 days ago, on 10th June, at a time they were still under a transfer embargo.

United - appoint Chris Wilder as new manager 52 days ago, on 12th May.

Bolton get their transfer embargo lifted (apparently) on 1st July and, one day later, they sign Chris Taylor. If rumours are to be believed, they've got both Jamie Proctor and Mark Beevers lined up on the verge of being signed.

Meanwhile, United haven't brought a soul in since signing Duffy and Hussey on 1st June, 31 days ago now, despite Chris Wilder having identified a need for three centre-halves, a left-footed midfielder, a target man, and another wide player.

Who knows if Bolton will sign Proctor and Beevers?
Problem is though, if they do, and we continue to wait on signings, our "strategy" is gonna start to look a bit silly.

Yeah, but.. it doesn't matter either way does it? Who wants promotion anyway.

As long as we get in the players we need I don't care how early or late we signed them.
We have to learn form our past lessons, we got to start spending wisely on wages, no more Coutts, Hammond and company.
We finished 11th with the "highest?" budget last season so yeah our past "strategy" has to outstanding hasn't it.
I'm more then happy to wait if it means we start acting like a sensible club for once.

I don't want us to overpay for players like we have over the last few seasons. If that means we start with a back 4 of Freeman Brayford Basham and Hussey so be it ( not ideal I know ). Assuming Whiteman will start my concern is central midfield. Are we really doing ti play Scougall in a 'two' ? With this is mind I think either Done or Adams will be sold in order to release some funds to buy an experienced player in there

I am certain we won't sign a centre back before we play them

Look i don't know why you are all moaning this is what I and others predicted weeks ago, we've already heard the first round of excuses.

Next will be 'we have a honest bunch here'
'Won't buy for sake of it' etc

Then we will still be fucking about last week in August.

We must be the least pro active club ever.

It could be argued, we've signed twice as many players as Bolton, then?

I do think we are in for a number of players , and all being the right players for us . We will have tabled our offer , given them a review of the facilities , and waiting for a answer of are you signing yes or no.

Being biased if it was me walking around the ground and training facilities it would be a no brainier of were do you want me to sign.

There are a number of league 1 clubs doing or trying to do a Newcastle , which works on the principle of shit or bust .

We do appear to have a structure to our transfer policy , and thanfully with a thought process there may be method for once in the clubs madness .

But what if waiting is worse, who will be left in our budget?????
I'm all for buying/loaning the "right" players, but we need to make headway as we're starting to look like we're falling behind. Ok, we don't "need" many players, but surely you'd want your defence in place asap, look what happened last season.......we were fucked, no defence and no idea how to fix it, anybody that plays Mceverly, nevermind making him captain is obviously a complete lunatic and now we're in a worse position, as we have no one atall to play there, apart from the youth, and I think that would be very risky.

Or it could be said that, since Phil Parkinson was appointed 22 days ago, Parkinson has already got one of his targets in and (allegedly) has got two more lined up.

Meanwhile CW, despite having a 30 day headstart on PP, hasn't signed a single player in any of his six identified target areas since 1st June.

Are we even anywhere near signing anyone?

The lack of rumours is worrying as well.

My fear is that we'll wait and keep losing out until we're in a mad panic at the end of the transfer window. The CB situation is the major priority. We ideally need both in place before next Saturday.

We seem to have made so many mistakes in the recruitment of players , I think we are better off concentrating what Wilder , Knill and the secret scout are doing .

Not really bothered what Charlton , Bolton or whoever are doing . One of the biggest things required to be successful is discipline , belief and togetherness as Leicester / Wales , something as a club and supporters we are lacking for obvious reasons.

Wilder knows what's required and will not jeopardise himself or the club , in not sorting it.

Come on CW! Make a move. We need those cb's for the good of the team, the reputation of the club and the sanity of a lot of (Inc me) our supporters! In CW we trust.....don't we?

Or that we have signed 2 with 2, possibly more lined up? Dates mean nothing. It's what we line up with on the 6th August that counts. I'd rather we had late quality signings that will grow into the team rather than filling the squad as early as possible with overpaid or uncommitted players. Been there done that. It's all a game of patience

Id honestly like to know, exactly what's happened to the" one or two signings we would have over the next week" that Wilder told us of 3 weeks ago? He's supposed to be a fan like ourselves, but it seems he's now peddling the same shit others have!
I'm sure I don't speak for just myself when I say, "please just be honest with us, we're the life blood of the club and it's the least we deserve!!".

I think he feels under pressure to give answers the fans are going to want to hear, despite him not knowing if it's as possible as he makes out. I'd appreciate honesty far more.

So to sum up, they've signed 3 players and we have signed 2?

Wilder is being honest as the day is long . Sometimes you can be too honest .

Wilder says he doesn't do it , but he will have to learn - PR

Who are the two or more lined up though? Everything seems to have gone incredibly quiet. And no-one's saying we need to be filling the squad up with shit, just that we need to be making a bit of visible progress on the admirably clearly defined targets that Chris Wilder has laid out.

I thought the very point of bringing Chris in so decisively and quickly was to let him get cracking on rebuilding the squad? Fuck knows why it's taking so long while all around us are starting to make progress.

(P.S. Not doubting CW at all here - got total faith in him still. Just got severe doubts about the ability he's being allowed to have to act in the transfer market.
But, for a character who's meant to be blunt and to the point, Chris's mixed messages on this subject aren't really that helpful.)

The players will be there don't worry two CBs if Freeman is in the starting line for the first game I think I'd throw up

United have come into their own. We've managed to negotiate a deal not to sign Dean Hammond! Surely thats a victory in itself. After last seasons practice by not signing Dan Burn, prior to that Chris O'Grady and famously managing to fuck up negotiating deals for numerous players on transfer deadline day like with Fleck, those skills were not wasted and we've now not signed Dean Hammond.

He is being honest that is one thing Wilder is
I think he thought McFadzean would have signed by now but MKD are making it very difficult for us. Not Wilders fault
He may have moved on Killgallon was at the ground on Thurdsay

But here's the issue. MK Dons were obviously not just going to give us McFadzean. They wanted to keep him and he played most games for them last season at a higher level. When he handed a transfer request in, and there's reported interest from Championship clubs, they're going to hold out for as much as they can get. Even if we agreed terms with them I think the lad would be in for a shock when we started to discuss wages! If he continues to fanny around, chasing him instead of other targets and it drags on, he'll be no better than the Nigels. Move on, and if it happens at some stage it's a bonus.

As for Killa, I can't imagine he'll take the pay cut at his age. I really don't think he's good enough. He's not played a full season since he left us for a start and his pace was his strength.

If these 2 c/b's get a move on,they've got a nice trip to la Manga next week,
not a bad start to you blades career is it?

But he can't come out and tell us straight?? I'm sorry but there's honesty and then there's the SUFC management version, I'm not saying CW isn't trying, isn't close to a signing or isnt doing his best, but not being honest and open are what's causing the unrest amongst the fanbase, as it shows on every forum.
