Bogle - potential ST option?

Good skills, him and Ndiaye link up well. Can use both feet hence why he goes LWB sometimes too. Great finisher. Give him a chance up top. Seriously consider it.
When we first bought him I said he would end up as a midfielder and got royaly shot down for it, there would be some.merit in playing him in a more advanced role

Bogle would be an insane right winger but with the formation we play the ST role is the other option.

Why would we move someone who has a skill in running from deep and cutting through lines further up the pitch?! Rwb is his position for a good reason. He's not as composed as a natural forward player and we don't play traditional wingers/wide men
‘He’s not as composed as a forward player’… based on what evidence? Looks very composed to me when he’s in the box.

The Pigs years ago switched Warhurst from centre half to centre forward. Annoyingly, it was a masterstroke for the season but thereafter the player was injury prone.

In conclusion, I think the narrative that a player can only play one position is bollocks.

Surely Bogle has to be an option if we’re down to the bare bones? He finishes with composure, has skill and makes intelligent runs into the box…. erm like a striker.

He's not 'cold blooded' in that way for me. Part of his strength is his unpredictability but I think playing him higher up would take away from it. Also it weakens us at RWB so I don't even know why people consider moving him

Feel like we’ve had this discussion before back in the later stages of Wilder and we wanted to try anything for a bit of a spark. Did he start at RCM once or play a bit of a game there? Maybe. He’s a talent but I think he’s much better bringing the ball forward with everything in front of him. He’s not a striker. He could play as a winger or right sided more central midfielder though, IMO.

Ok, I’m only advocating Bogle up top if George is fit for RWB.

Football is about winning games. It is about out scoring the opposition.

He is scoring from wing back.

Unless we are so short of strikers that we genuinely need to play someone out of position then we should leave him where he is contributing goals already and continue to pick career strikers in the team.

Based on where you’ll play Bogle, you are either going to pick Sharp/Jebbison or Baldock. Who is going to add more to the goal tally of the team, Sharp/Jebbo or Baldock?

The reason Bogle was so effective today was because he dribbled inside diagonally from a deep position, so their midfielder, full back and then centre back were scrambling working out who should pick him up.

If you put him up front he’d be half the player

Spot on, and why would you move a player who is starting to show some real talent and form to a position that he is not familiar with. Playing as a striker is totally different to playing as a wingback.

...because a Baldock can play that role behind him.

True, but an individual’s suitability to perform
a role is based on their attributes and it’s a cliche to pigeon hole them in one position.

As impressive as Bogle can be at wing back, his ability suggests he could be more effective further up the pitch. I’d like to try accommodating both Bogle and George (when fit) in the same side.

I remember in the 1960s we were short of a striker. We had an England international left-sided full back called Graham Shaw (my first Blades' hero). He was picked as a stand in centre forward. Don't think it worked out though 🤔 ...

Yeah, Ndiaye tracks back and tackles well so maybe stick him at centre half as well while we’re at it?!
Because he ain’t tall enough Derek and he’s shit hot up top. Shifting Bogle further forward could be a useful experiment at a time when we may need to experiment due to injuries.

We’ve got to think outside of the box sometimes, both tactically and financially.

Playing a forward at centre half is a daft idea because he’s a good forward but playing a good RWB up front is ok?!

Seems to be double standards here.

Just loan a forward.

We don’t have the cash to loan a forward and no one, other than you being pedantic, would advocate Ndiaye playing centre half given the current makeup of the squad.

I agree, Ndiaye should play where he’s most effective, as should Bogle.

The lack of cash is another issue. If we don’t go up having not brought another forward in then serious questions need asking. Hopefully it won’t be an issue though and what we’ve got will get us over the line.
