Well, here we are, about to start the season, with a summer laden with signings consisting of a number of players transferred in, who have been the championships best.
Not only that, but their respective club’s players of the season:
Mcburnie
Robinson
Freeman
Nottingham Forrest’s best midfielder - Osbourne
A talented French player with much to prove - The Moose
A lost talent on his last chance, but by all accounts well up for the challenge - Ravel
In my opinion, one of the best goalkeepers in the country - Hendo
Fellow blades - this is the best period we have ever had, I and I know most others on here, think we will do well and surprise many.......I love it that we are rated certs to go down..........we all know on here, that if you are going to beat this Sheffield United team, you are going to have to work very hard.......all our players will be up for it every game.......not sure the Pogba’s and the Lukaku’s of this world will...which will be a leveller.........Optimism in buckets for the coming season...we will do well......COYRAWW!!!!

The problem with optimism is that it requires a healthy dose of reality too. Let's not get carried away, we are still favourites to go down and rightly so in my opinion. We've made a living off of keeping our powder dry but let's not lose that side of us as a fanbase.

I agree with the OP in terms of its our best period as a Blade and we have every reason to be excited but please let's not lose what makes us Blades - not negativity - but a good strong grounding and feet on the ground sort of stuff.

Unfortunately I'm abroad until 23august, I'll miss a few games , but I wonder what the odds are for us to win our first three games, got yo be with a crazy tenner

There is a lot to be said for teamwork/spirit but it only takes you so far. (Bassett era).
Hopefully and IMO the players we had and have signed are a country mile better than the 90s team I loved under Bassett or indeed the team under owd carrot nose.
So with Wilders team ethic influence and the decent quality we've signed this window I reckon we're in with a fighting chance of staying up. Better than the last couple of times we got to prem. Everyone says it's a different proposition now but I just think top six/seven are streets ahead, rest of em can get ready.

I'd like to thank the club whoever it is under the existing circumstances for giving the best manager we've had the best chance of not just playing for 40 points.

Feels like we're going to have a reight good go at it.

😋

Not sure either of them will be playing in the PL this season. And I’m ITK on one of them. But take your point! Great post!

Share all of your enthusiasm bar Hendo (don't think I'd call him best in Country).

My assessment;

Jagielka - Reliable signing - Proven quality at Premiership level. Gives us good cover in a couple of positions.

Freeman - Shrewd signing - Always been one of those "we should look at him" players because he's never had a bad game when he's played at Bramall Lane for QPR, Bristol City & Stevenage. I think his style of play adapts well to the Premier League.

Morrison - Wildcard signing - Wilder & Knill are proven in motivating players and have created the right environment. With the added bonus of not having to depend on him, I think we've got something to be excited about with Rav.

Robinson - Exciting signing - another player who has impressed against us. Gives us much needed pace and variety in attacking positions. My tip for most effective signing.

Mousset - Strange signing - I'm not entirely sure what we're looking for in Mousset that we don't already have in Robinson. But at the very least he improves our quality and depth in attacking positions.

Osborne - Understated Signing - Good competition for Enda and gives us strength in depth. A good blend of youth and experience.

Hendo - Important signing - A key part of the team on and off the pitch. Undoubted quality which we are grateful to secure for 1 more seasons.

McBurnie - Necessary signing - In the past we've had to make short term, budget signings like Madine & Hanson to give us that physical presence. Now we have a long term solution who has goalscoring quality to boot.

Talking to a forest fan and he says Osborn is more a centre mid player ie the fleck mould and will run and run

It's bin laden aye.

😉

Amazing how far the manager has taken us in three short years.

I once bought Bassett half of bitter in appreciation. I'd get Wilder a box of Peronis if I bumped into him in Sainsbury's.

I am the ultimate half glass empty type after 50 years of United , but these signings are really top notch and sensible .... I'm really struggling with been positive as it always blows me in the face .... but the current set up and recruitment is the best I have know ... my tip Callum Robinson to be a star ....UTB and fk to been negative anymore 🔴⚪⚫
