With all the discussion that our millionth missed chance at playoff glory might lead to this, I got thinking: What are the greatest blessings in disguise in our history?

The Adkins failure springs to mind. At the time, I thought we'd be best giving him another season because it seemed we were unfixable in the short run... how wrong I was!

Not to forget he resigned Billy, and WHAT a signing that was!

Not going up under Nigel Clough in 2015.. if we had done we would have plodded around the lower Championship for a couple of seasons before sinking back to League one, whilst Chris Wilder was taking Charlton on an exhilarating run to the Premier League

Selling brooks. Without that sale we don’t get egan and maybe even norwood and probably don’t go up. We’d never have that championship promotion season or the first premier league season
There is actually quotes from the owners at the time saying the Brooks money wasn't spent in that window. We could have had Brooks too.

Selling good players is never a good idea regardless of what came after it.
Selling a top quality player and buying two average players that just happen to work out is a once in a 15 year average track record occurrence for us
