2 Are true, ones a lie...??

My piggy mate was at the same table as Chris Wilder at a wedding a couple of months ago

I once bit Paddy Kennys eyebrow off

I met Stephen Quinn in that Irish pub on Tripped Lane.

So it was you who bit his eyebrow off, was it?

My neice went out with Tongy.

Then, separate from that, one of my daughters married a lad from Leigh who was related to ... Tongy.

pommpey

My wife spoke to a bloke this week who went to school with Billy Sharp's brother whose ten years older than Billy and apparently was the better of the two players (you always hear that type of stuff though don't you!?) but for some reason, he didn't make it.

I'm mates with Andy Walker and we were also born on the same day.

Had a chat with him when he was at Dunfermline’s ground for an England vs Scotland legends game 10 or so years ago. Seemed to have some genuine fondness for his time with us – viewed that period as “great days”.

He absolutely loved it and still has a soft spot for us. It was only Spackman's promotion to manager that soured things.

I once bumped in to Aiden McGeady in a Glasgow pub .

It was pretty loud and I said/slurred to him ' I saw your Dad play for The Blades in the 70's and he was like shit off a shovel.'

Unfortunately he didn't pick up the ' off a shovel ' bit and looked understandably miffed.

Happily , I quickly rectified the misunderstanding and we left as friends.

I once walked past Jack Lester, got too close, made no contact, and he fell to the ground.

Okay, so only one part of that is true.

I once got a call from the Structural Engineers department at the Town Hall to tell me that their 'lad' was on his way with a roll of drawings I had asked for . A few minutes later he walked in .

It was Joe Shaw . My feelings were torn between the elation of meeting the great man in the flesh for the first time and the sadness of seeing a footballing legend having to make a living as a general dogsbody at the beck and call of a bunch of nobodies .

Indeed. As I recall he was completely frozen out, though obviously we’d added Deane and Marcelo to our group that already had JAF, Taylor, Katchouro, and then Saunders later on. I personally thought he should have had more time at Wembley in ‘97 and should have replaced Katchouro (who had an appalling game).

He was the only senior player sent to a United friendly at Shepshed Dynamo in either 97 or 98. The only other recognisable name on the day was Chris Bettney, who I think partnered him up front.

I went to school with, and lived a handful of doors away, from Gary Hamson's wife (or first wife if they're no longer married).

When Ken Furphy got sacked from BDTBL, my Dad interviewed him the week after when he went to sign on.

As per my avatar strapline, I worked with Chris Wilder's dad, Paul at a Financial Services company in the early 1990's.

Yep. Andy got me my ticket for Wembley and I sat with his brothers and mates who were all wearing Celtic shirts ! Bit of a blow that he only got 30 seconds playing time.

Tony Currie and John Hope came to my house on Tuesday evening 11th April 1972. My dad arranged the "surprise"

My dad was in the same class at school as the son of Fred Jessop who signed for us from Derby in December 1937. He was the reason why my dad became a Blade.

At one stage we had six international strikers on the books I think. Walker, Fjortoft, Deane, Saunders, Taylor and Katchouro, maybe?

I may have got a couple of those wrong, not sure they all overlapped. Or was it 6 across one season?

That’s all correct. Marcelo wouldn’t have had any Portugal caps, so the odd one out of that bunch.

I went to the same school as Dane Whitehouse (he was in the year above me). Also the same school as Sean Bean, but he was already at rada, but the Drama teacher always talked about him

My wife gave speech therapy to the child of an ex blades captain, and she said he was a massive twat. The player not the child.

Unfortunately for confidentiality I can't say who the player was, so will have to leave it at that . Not a current player he retired some time ago
