Hey all, back with a quick pod to pull out a few points from our last game: reflecting on a fair defeat (00:10), worries about our Plan B (03:00), the state of our attack (05:00), our worst defensive showing of the season (06:48), Lundstram's Fleck-esque performance (10:09), an ode to an excellent Brooks goal (12:08), and the joy/shock of having a manager with higher standards than the fans (13:12).

As always, you can get BladesPod on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/bladespod/id1309198119?mt=2

Thanks for listening, and excuse my croaky voice on this one ;)

Always nice to listen to someone with a "glass is half full" outlook, calms me back down after having to endure some absolute half-bakes on Facebook :)

On the note of the manager having higher expectations than the fans, it reminds me of Dave Bassett in 1990.

We'd got the FA Cup quarter final for the first time in 23 years (as a second-tier side, no less), and lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United (who, whilst not yet the formidable European champions that they'd become later that decade, were still pretty good and went on to win the cup that year). I remember that our players gave it their all and got a very good ovation at the end of the game. When the BBC documentary was shown later that season, I was staggered to see Bassett laying into them saying that if they wanted to get promoted they'd have to get used to beating teams like that at home, and saying they need to look hard at themselves and want it more. It seemed incredibly harsh at the time but it obviously worked as we won 3 of our next 4 home matches against Manchester United.

Believe me, it wasn't always this way ;)

Top effort again buddy.

You thought about filming them and turning them into a Vlog? We could do with a Vlog. Every other club seems to have a number of them and the only Utd ones I've seen are just blokes filming them and their mates going to the game.

One which offers insightful analysis and interesting info (a la your podcast) would be great! Just a thought...

I believe the expression is "face for radio" :)

Never say never I guess - just that these podcasts are quite quick to produce (today's was pretty much one take, for example) whereas having worked with video in the past, I know that there is plenty of post-production work, and I have to do bill-paying stuff the rest of the time ;) FWIW I really enjoy the Shoreham View vlogs, they're a great way to relive the game. It's nice to see that the club seem to be supporting them officially as well, with the recent player interviews.

Ha ha!! Fair point,

Don't get me wrong, the Shorham View can be good, but there's definitely a space for a more cerebral conversation/analysis of what's going on. Certainly room for both genres!

You're doing a cracking job fella, so you keep doing what you're doing!!
