Evening all,

Blades Analytics and I pick the bones out of the Swansea game and look ahead to Norwich this weekend and what to expect.

Although Swansea wasn't exactly a classic, I thought there was quite a lot to discuss from it, including:

- what happened in the second half
- impact of Dowell and Madine off the bench (11:55)
- this Mark Duffy tweet / fitness controversy (20:15)
- the brilliance of Jack O'Connell (29:20)

Finally we talk Norwich in a lot of detail (32:55), including their style and players to watch.

Cheers for listening!

Excellent Work Lads, keep em coming.

Had a look at the home game based on what you were saying, and it is noticeable how many headers we win. (This was the game of Egan's GLT goal.)

(It's also noticeable that Ben Woodburn creates a couple of good chances for Leon.)

Good listen as always...In defense of Norwood 2nd hal...without the ball anyway...I don't think it helped that he was on a booking...infact by about 55 minutes we had him and both wing backs on a booking, and facing a team full of running it makes it more difficult.
Don't think you mentioned the Pen claim...I thought we were unlucky with that to be fair.

Great pod again, especially the xG orgy at the end.

Is there any way to donate? Once I've listened to a podcast for long enough, it's only right to support it.

Another excellent edition and thanks again.

I'm slightly concerened about Jay's man love for Duffy. I'd suggest getting a room, but I gather that Mrs Duffy is a bet feisty and may object.

Keep up the good work lads!

Cheers for all the listens and feedback!

Woodburn did similar in a cameo against Boro the week before as well - Clarke missed at least one really good chance that he created in that game. It didn't work out for him here like I hoped it would but he could very easily have had 2-3 assists from those first few games and then who knows? He probably still wouldn't have been a starter for us but perhaps he'd be viewed slightly differently.

That's a great point with the bookings, hadn't thought about that. With the pen, was it the possible handball from the pull-back, where the defender slid in? Thought it would've been harsh myself, without seeing it again I thought he was really close to our player and his hand wasn't in a particularly unnatural position considering he'd slid.

Great pod again, especially the xG orgy at the end.

Stick twenty quid in the post to...

That's very kind, thanks for saying so! I keep meaning to see if anyone would sponsor it actually just to cover my hosting costs. So, if anyone's reading and fancies promoting their business to 1500+ people every week or so... ;)

Doesn't seem to be a download option on Soundcloud for this one mate (but there is still one for all your other podcasts).

1500+ every week is good going.
How many listeners did you have when you first started? Are the numbers still growing?

(I haven't got a business I want to promote, I'm just a nosy bugger who is interested in that sort of thing) ;)

It's still creeping up although it has been determined a bit by what's up for discussion. More people want to listen to us talking about hammering Villa (2.5k listens) or previewing the derby (2k) than drawing with Stoke, for example :)

A year ago it was getting about 500-700 listens. I'm still amazed that many people listen, to be honest!

They don't.

It's me dropping off, then having to start from scratch again. I used to do this about 493 times per epsiode but recently as they've got duller, it's crept up to 1489 times.

HTH.

Appreciate the dedication pal!

Some very interesting stuff this week. On your Duffy section - I have always felt that Duff has been very effective in games when he has come on for the last quarter against tired opposition. He is fresh and with space - viz Hillsborough? Perhaps start Dowell, who does magical stuff that will surprise the sharpest defender, and bring Duff on later to clinically disect them as they slow. (This is a thought for comment, rather than an opinion!)

On xG - you have me completely hooked now. I looked at the Infogol xG table compared to actual and 4 teams amazed me. Derby are 11 places higher in the actual table than xG. Blackburn are 9 places higher, Wigan are 10 places lower and Brentford are 11 places lower. Derby I guess is Wilson scoring lots of low xG goals, but why the other 3?

Had a listen to the first 35 mins whilst running tonight and enjoyed it. I never normally get chance as I leave it too late but it’s good, insightful stuff.
