Hi all,

Plenty to chew over in the last 72 hours or so... here's today's pod with Roygbiv attempting to do just that, talking:

  • the David McGoldrick conundrum and whether we'd keep him in the team (09:30)
  • VAR... (21:20)
  • Norwood's good, bad and ugly (30:08)
  • Che Adams returning to the Lane (40:08)

Next, we give our reaction to the court case verdict (53:43), preview Everton away (1:15:09) and then I'm joined by Tom from The Toffee Blues to get an opposition view ahead of the game (1:23:31).

Thanks for listening. Tried to give a bit of a nuanced reaction to the court case, at least as much as I'm confident in doing so... hopefully it doesn't just sound like meaningless waffle anyway.

The director of football story started a year ago, that the prince wanted to bring one in. but wilder didnt what that in any shape or form! Not just from reading the statment!

But is it based on any genuine info? I mentioned the Van Winkle stuff was a concern but from the transcripts I've read I didn't see any confirmation that it was the Prince that wanted him on board

Last year, BladesPod is where I would find reassurance after a disappointing defeat. The stats would suggest that we were still on track and that all would come good in the end...and it was true!
I don’t think that’s always going to be the case this year is it!? (And I don’t just mean because Blades Analytic is a less regular contributor)
I’ll take solace in that we have largely matched the opposition so far and were only a couple of VAR calls away from a point on Saturday.
Disappointing, but we move on (under our new regime)

I did the same mate. Ben and Jay helped me through the Villa debacle like a couple of therapists but I think this season will be different as we are naturally going to struggle more. Saturday was so disappointing as we were so close to getting something but made the most sloppy mistakes in both areas. I still haven't quite shaken off the frustration.

Actually more people seem to listen! Sticklers for punishment
Your pod seems to be the only thing that snaps me out of the deep dark depression that I fall into after every defeat

100% this!
If we get outplayed and turned over against a Liverpool or Man City, I’m sure I’ll find it a much less bitter pill to swallow than throwing away a point (or three) after largely matching the opposition due to poor finishing and errors at the back. Chuck in VAR and a dubious red card and you’ve got a recipe for a very frustrating Saturday.
