Afternoon all,

Now that the season is officially over, me and Blades Analytics had a stab at some alternative awards for the 2018/19 season, including:

- Best New Player (03:44)
- Most Improved Player (11:30)
- Best Games (24:50)
- Best / Worst Moments (30:45)
- the Connor Sammon Miss of the Season award (56:52)
- Unsung Hero (1:02:14)
- the Hendo Cam Moment of the Year (1:09:30)

I enjoyed this - there's about 20 awards in all and it was a good way to look back at the season. Hope you enjoy and let me know if you disagree with any of the nominations.

Only just listened and another cracking one, so I'm happy to bump the thread.

I did raise half an eyebrow over the JOC man-lurv and the 'stat' that he covers more distance than anyone else. I'd have thought Enda, Baldock or Bash but you lads are normally on top of your game - is there any independent way to verify this?

I particulalry liked the reference to the Derby game and in retrospect how it can be seen as a defining point, when we showed the strength of character to come back and win. I'd chuck Blackburn and Brentford in there too, given the handicap of losing a player in each game.

BTW, the first non league team we ever lost to, was in the FAC to Altrincham in the early 80s.

Another fabulous listen guys. Keep em coming. Were going to need you this summer. Feel free to talk about anything. Shirts , the pitch . I dont care because it will still be a interesting listen.

Thanks for the fact-check on that - couldn't remember!

With the JOC "distance covered" thing, as far as I'm aware this isn't publicly available data (presumably clubs want to keep it in-house) and you can only get it through paid analytics services, one of which Jay uses so I bow to his knowledge on that one. I do remember O'Connell claiming that he covers 11k a game in an interview last year, which - going on the stats you sometimes see on TV in Champions League games etc - is more than most midfielders.

I would guess that Baldock and Stevens would cover less distance than you might think, just because their starting position is much higher up the pitch than centre-back so they're less likely to make runs from deep. Bash would be a good comparison though.

Finally got through all of this and moved onto the next one.

Good pod again.

I like the Enda love, I'd have him as my PoTY as well based on sheer consistency and then having the wherewithal to come up with 4 goals towards the business end of the season, legend.

I'm not so gushing on Hendo as a lot of people, he's a good keeper but he's naive at times. I still compare everyone to Alan Kelly though so they haven't got a prayer.

I forgot a lot of the awards by the time I'd done listening but I agreed with a lot of them.

Cranie all the way on the unsung hero award.

Great listen, agreed with every nomination except for the exclusion of Cranie's pass to Dowel against West Brom for pass of the season, I was amazed he even kept it in. Although you could argue it was less of a precise pass, more a cross.

more blades pod required beans!

Was this a case of Beattie flu before the Posh lured him away?

Can Bladespod tempt him back with a counter offer?

I demand a statement!

I think we should leave him to his new role as he goes about his business facilitating the sudden signings of Carruthers, Evans and Holmes...
