Fucking hell that looked bad. I'm glad I had the fortune to be busy during today's game and not able to listen to any of it, let alone attend.

I'm surprisingly upbeat still. Today was an aberration and as long as they show me something better next run out, I'll forget about it.

I don't even fancy watching it. I'd rather forget and pretend it didn't happen.

Struggled through that to see if it was as bad as it seemed at the time. The keepers had a mare, at fault for the first two and possibly the penalty (can't really tell).

Paul Coutts - that miss at the end was spectacular. Given the score it doesn't matter but fuck me, what a howler.

We weren't quite at it all over today.

All 4 goals on the break....Moore was poor for at least 2 of them, if not all 4...and how did he get away with wearing the same colour top as our defenders?

Anyway......bag of shit today...tegroup and move on.

EEL didn't exactly cover himself in glory either .

Moore was at fault for the first 2 goals. EEL was awful for the 3rd. Does not look like a penalty, but ref gets 1 look & I can see why he gave it, but why did Freeman not put his foot through it?
Second was decisive as it gave them energy & put us under pressure. Done is not a defender so I can't be too harsh on him but EEL looked awfully pedestrian all day.

Apart from Coutts the midfield did not fire today, too many sideways balls, & as for the attack, there were very few runs into the box, & too often we had one man there. We then bring Clarke on & the crossing was poor.

But.......................to be fair to Walsall they had done their homework, they worked hard, closed down the space & put balls behind Done & Freeman. This exposed, not just a lack of pace, but 2 very slow [EEL & Basham] & 1 averagely paced defender. In this League we will probably get away with it most weeks, particularly when Lafferty is back, but IF promotion comes we need 2 central defenders! EEL would need to return to WW, in the Championship they would destroy him with the ball on the ground.

Living away from Sheffield I have managed 3 games this season. Coventry, an unconvincing victory, Northampton, an unconvincing victory & today! I am hoping for a dominant victory in my remaining possible games. Oxford, Northampton & MK!

Moore has had a mare, should have done better on the first two and a needless dive in to give the penalty away, not that the 3 at the back were much better all over the place would be a fair description. I hope other managers don't copy the Walsall tactics or we could struggle to stay in the top two. Let's put this one down to a bad day at the office but we don't want many more like that. :(:(:(:(

Jesus Christ only just read the other comments. See post above. And no I ain't clicking that shit. I'd rather forget....

Made a thread about Moore as I've played non-league and would be embarrassed at that, but my comment on here is about EEL. Big slow out of position lug. First 2, shocking. His positioning in childish. He is in no way capable of playing at a higher level. Glad Wolves extended his contract. May do a job down here but his early good form seems to have vanished.

I figured he was being sarcastic but a smiley always helps. :)

You can call me any name you want but never ever call me a Wednesday fan even in jest. :D

As others have said, I cannot bring myself to watch the highlights (just yet anyway), as I was there, so I know how bad it is.

Chris Wilder - as honest as ever in the interview.

I am not saying we would have won yesterday, but I think Jake Wright in the back three would have organisd the defence properly.

I am not knocking JOC because overall he was ok, but at times he was up at the bye line, trying to put the crosses in, and left us exposed when they broke quickly from that position.

Looks like a bad day at the office, particulary for EEL. Personally, I'd like to see Wright back in to shore up the centre and allow EEL (or Basham?) and O'Connell to deal with the wings. I actually think we are being a tad too adventurous at times, we supposedly have wing backs to provide attacking width but (as Grappler says) we often find JOC and Basham up the wings which leaves us prone to a fast counter-attack.

Just watched the game. I admit, I fast forwarded a lot. It looks like a bad day at the office. The first half we looked ok, second we looked a bit lethargic mentally. After Wilder said, post Southend game, that the players now believed they could win the league, I was bit worried. That sort of self belief can sometimes, in team sports, lead to a reduction in mental effort, concentration levels falls and boy did they. Moore had a nightmare, it happens. The penalty, the guy appeared to be already falling before Moore's contact. For me, today showed why we need Lafferty. I know some people are not sure about him, but I really like him and have no doubt he could cut it in the Champ.
Credit has to go to Walsall, although on another day, 3 of those goals don't go in. At the beginning of the season I would have taken a playoff place. We are still on track for auto, let alone a playoff place. So I am still positive, despite a strange aching in my chest. I think that is a response to being spoiled over the last few months. I always remember that horrible Leeds team of the late 60's losing two games all season. One of them was against a poor mid table Burnley, 5-1.

Looking at those highlights, I think Wilder may bring Wright in for EEL next Saturday. Might send a message to EEL that he like everyone else needs to keep high standards to stay in the team.

That miss at the end was as bad as the defensive errors mind. Bad day all round.

Moore ,Freeman and eel Defo had bad days there

all depends where you were watching from I guess mate. Freeman was my probable man of the match. Apart from the mix up leading to the penalty at the end (by which point it was too late), I thought he was one of the better players. No one covered themselves in glory in that game. Lavery kept losing the ball, So did Duffy, we often had a winger arriving at the edge of their box, with no Blade actually in the box. Clarke flicked on headers when there was no one close enough to him to get on the end of it. Basham and JOC were often up at the by line, leaving us wide open at the back.

I'm just going off the highlights mate
Think our Ray of light from yesterday is that for me it's not the players that have got us top of the league it's the manager and I'm sure he will keep us there
I personally don't think our squad is very good but the manager is outstanding
One less game to play and six points of 3rd spot would have snatched yer hand off for that in July

Their penalty wasn't a penalty (not even in control of the ball and should have been booked for diving to boot) and yet the referee misses that outrageous push on Clarke for our last chance.

Agree with that!
Sometimes success with an attacking mentality creates a tendency to over-do it, hopefully Wilder can bring them back to earth.
