Shocking defending for their second, shame The Lion didn't hit the net, he knows he should have.

Certainly could have got a 3rd goal either him or Donaldson.

Lovely goals from Donaldson, mistakes both but he still had to finish. Great ball from Lundstram for the first, even if it wasn't defended well. When he first joined us, he was hitting those sort of passes out for goal kicks so it's good he's finding his range.

Any experts out there on the rules? Never mind was their first goal a penalty, was the throw-in immediately before the goal legal? The ball went out, and their player took the throw-in from way behind the goal-line - how can that be taking it from where the ball went out? Anyone know the rules on that? - it looked wrong to me.

Didn't the Villa player take the throw in from behind the goal for the penalty incident?

You just got in there first?!

The ref was making things up as the match went on. As most of the useless pricks seem to do every week.

I'd like to know how you get away with taking a throw in from behind the goal line too.

Foul throw. And no way was that a pen. Very unlucky not to get 3 points today.

Geeor were sounding like Wendys looking for excuses, much more interesting what happened and how after the throw in.

Bruce, 'we had some big players out.'
WTF <doesn't seem to be an emoticon for this> you had a player on the bench who cost more than our squad.

From my seat I wasn’t too pissed off with the ref.

I’ve seen the pen several times and I’m still not sure if Stearman got the ball then the man or vice versa. Tough one for the ref. Grealish was a diving little shit, and conned the ref a few times. To the point he could well have got Bash sent off. Bash deserved his yellow, and the ref could easily have sent Bash off.

As for Uniteds defending.
First....Stearman perhaps didn’t need to make the challenge. The throw in.....behind the dead ball line? Nah....it’s a throw, he threw it in from the touchline side of the flag. Second goal we lined up in a zonal set up. Baldock was close to Jedinak but let him run at the line and he beat CCV to the header. Was a good delivery.
Baldock got done at the back post second half for a great cross. To be fair, being critical he should have jumped and challenged for it. But got away with it.

Other than that we defended ok I thought, against a team with some talented forwards.

It was a great test for our defenders, and they came through it very well after the first 10 minutes.

Bruce did us a favour when he bottled it and subbed Snodgrass though!

I'm waiting for a 'Villa fan in peace' to tell us how great they were and how lucky and dirty we were.
Heard one villa fan say as we walked past the Holte end after that we should’ve been down to 10

Agree, Snodgrass has quality and can create something out of nothing. Elmo wasn’t as effective but he’s a Bruce favourite.
Be a tough rematch with Terry in there instead of Jedinak. But who knows what the blades will bring in January.

Donaldson's first touch for his first was absolutely outstanding. A very hard skill. Didn't realise just how good it was.

It has to be illegal, because there is no touch line for him to be behind. I'm not sure which side of the corner flag the ball went when he threw it. You can't expect defenders to be in position before the thrower is any where near the legal position - this was not like the Preston goal.
