Disappointing goals to concede. Very good goals to score. That delivery for O'Connel's goal is beautiful.

I thought their 2nd was a fluke.

It is a bit, but two defenders fail to stop him and then it somehow gets past Moore. First one their lad is allowed to find acres of space in the box. Always going to be disappointed with those kind of goal and I expect they'll be the main talking point. The other side of it is that Wilder isn't afraid to have us on the attack whatever the scoreline, so conceding a few is inevitable. As long as we're outscoring teams like this I'm a very happy Blade.

Always said I would love that Keegan mentality at the lane with goals galore but we score more than the opponents. Football to be enjoyed and in Wilder we have our Keegan. (no offence Chris, i hope you get what i'm saying). Overjoyed today.

Just got back from the game today, a great game and day and just like the good times of old and our 1400 fans were up for it. We looked awesome, particularily the first ten minutes when we might have been 3 up and a patch mid way through the second half when we were totally in control. All our players had decent games. Southend were no mugs and a big direct team and will take points off other challengers, at 1-1 it looked like it could go either way and ref was a bit of a homer and our fans let him know. Carruthers and Lavery looked sharp and with great potential to develop further. Billy had a good game with 100% effort for the cause but there were a couple of times when he tried to out run their full backs and they easily overtook him and took the ball back, we were all shouting to hold it up and bring others into play. Top lad though, gives his all for the cause as always as they all did today. Good times coming back........

Yeah, looked like a nice little ball from Carruthers to Freeman, who did well to cut it back..and good to see Lavery finish it.

This excellent manager and his team to be proud of, continue to answer all the questions asked of them. Poor start? Fuck it - we'll be top by the end of the year: unbeaten run ended? Never mind, we'll win six in a row. Southend? The form team? 13 unbeaten? Going to their back yard? Hearing fans would take a draw? Bollocks to that, we'll dismantle the fuckers.

This lot are the real deal. They produce week-in; week out. Even if not quite on top form they are never "shit", "gash" or other such knee-jerk ejaculations.

They turn-up to win. They play splendid proper on the deck passing football. They don't panic. They have a belief, a style, a swagger.

The manager, bless his luxuriant bushy tail, just keeps getting it right.

This team is a delight. I'm proud of them and I ❤ them.

⚽. ❤⚔.

That was a huge result today. Southend are a good side, Brown tends to build sides with players with stride over cadence, different from Wilder. As I said in another thread, I think they will be there or thereabouts at the end. On another note, one of the best teams I have seen in this league, I have seen them twice, is Bristol Rovers. A team in the same mould as Southend. They have the potential to threaten all teams, they need consistency. If we beat Rovers at their place, then I will start to believe and breathe.

I thought today would show far we've come as this was where we hit rock bottom in august &, our revival begun because afterwards we only lost 2 games 1 of them was with that kamikaze handball & lucky walsall team that robbed us

that Another fantastic display making up for last 2 humiliating displays in March & August. As i thinking a point today as Southend were on 12 game unbeaten run, but even when we pegged at 1-1 & Southend were on top impresses me this team mental hardness does not change. 2nd goal was terrible defending by Southend & 3rd goal was brilliant anticipation by lavery, 4 goals not 1 from sharp so much "1 man team" other teams bleated on about recently. Although its still terrifying as We're running out of games to cock this up & is too comfatable for my liking where is the usual heart attack inducing stress im used to enduring like
03 Pesch v Forest
08 Halford v Preston
12 Porter v Stevenage
14 Flynn v villa
14 Miller v Fulham
14 Porter v Forest
15 Adams v Spurs
