Got to agree on watching the highlights the game doesn't look as bad as watching live we had more shots on target, made more chances, where we went wrong is we made the wrong choices when in good positions. Ndiaye could have shot earlier when through on goal but delayed, Berge when put thtough by Norwood chose to try and find a tightly marked Ndiaye to his left when Bogle was free to his right or why not just shoot yourself. Too many times our player tried beating three or four men rather than pass. Three of our better player were guilty of trying to win the game themselves rather than playing as a team. I'm not putting it all on the players Carrick schooled Hecky who had no answers other than the obligatory introduction of Osborn.Worth watching and helps cut through the obvious narrative of Boro came and completely outplayed us. They should have been out of the game after the first 15 mins. Despite Boro being pacey, they didn't really create that much danger.
The highlights put a lot more context to the game.
We actually dicked them when it came to creating clear cut chances so I'm not remotely surprised we had double the xG. They definitely got the run of the ball too.
They had 3 shots which were goals, 2 of which had an element of fortune to them. Outside of that they had one chance where Wes did well to flick it over and an early shot which was as soft as shit. Rest of their shots were speculative and miles off or blocked miles away from goal.
Us on the other hand:
McBurnie scored.
Ndiaye should have scored when he could have put it across the keeper when he cut in from the left on his right foot.
Ndiaye got no power when he found himself free on the penalty spot on his left foot.
McBurnie had a snapshot that only just went wide.
Jebbo had an effort that Steffan knew absolutely nothing about.
Jebbo had a header where he should have really got it on target from about 8 yards.
Egan had a header from about 6 yards from Osborn's cross that he didn't get enough direction on.
There were also a few where the wrong decision was made last second. Lowe didn't quite pull back with enough power to Ndiaye and Berge not continuing his run himself.
I feel less disappointed. Our overall control needs to improve but on a different day we stick 4 or 5 past them.
