Why did he feel the need to dive when he could have just slotted it home? The mind boggles.

I don't think it's clear from that camera angle. I'd be surprised if it were a dive, given he had an opportunity the other week when he rounded the keeper but kept his feet and scored. Perhaps a less clear opportunity mind.

Certainly doesn't look as clear-cut, seeing it back again.

Good job they didn't show the Coutts challenge though. Seemed about a yard inside the box. Anyway, it would have been a travesty if they'd have nicked it.

The challenge was definitely outside the box, the man fell just outside and continued in.

Really was Chiched great for neutral, end to end everyone 100% effort. Chances galore & stonewall pen turned down. I just cant believe we didn't take all 3 pts but im sure with goaline clearances at both ends Gillingham were same on coach But nice to see others have joined me in optimistic corner because ive been saying since Oldham that things are coming together & we are on the right road. if we reproduce these kind of displays next season as we have last 4 home games we'll certainly challenging for auto promotion

Although mention to Gillingham 1 of the best teams ive seen at lane all season & out the play off contenders ive seen. My favs to win L1 PO Final at Wembley

Not only did we create numerous chances, but a good number of them were through quick, intelligent passing and movement. It was very good to watch and it looked like a team that were starting to click. It is unfortunate that it's a few months too late, but over the last three or four games the green shoots are starting to show. There were another couple of chances that we didn't quite gets shots off because players didn't read the pass coming their way. That understanding will hopefully continue to develop.

I hope we don't knock ourselves back to square one and that the board do give Adkins the tools needed over the summer to take us forward.

Ah, fair play. My view was from an angle - & it seemed in from that perspective (& going by the fuss the Gills players made).

I'll retrospectively revise my "you stupid twat, Couttsy" to a "close! - be careful, lad"!

The problem is that the recent solidity. giving rise to the ability to service the attackers from midfield, has come from the use of Baptiste and Edgar. Neither of these players will be with us next season.

I'd say this whole disaster of a season has been down to weakness at centre half. When we attacked earlier in the season we conceded far too easily, so we went more defensive to compensate and didn't do much better. Two top quality centre halves in the summer and the rest of the side will only require tweaks, relatively.

Exactly my feelings at the time. I was dead in line.

It's about time coaches drilled "stay on your feet" in the box into players. I'm convinced we'll score more goals that way.

Flynn is really good at taking the ball around goalkeepers, but sometimes you've just got to hit it.
Dare I say, it looked like Baptiste was playing some Maguire type balls- splitting their midfield and giving our strikers passes to turn with.

I personally think that these highlights proves Connor Sammon had one of his best games for us.

Were those highlights at normal speed? Can't have been United then!!!

What a treat to see more than a couple of the players playing with some urgency and actually earning their money for a change.

Clapped off the field for a home draw in League 1. That shows from what low levels Adkins has to lift them, but there are signs in home games that the latest system is developing. Do it in away games Blades and we'll clap you off there too, much better than abusing you - for you and us. We don't ask a lot.

For me it should also be seen as a huge motivation for Adkins and whichever of the players we decide to keep next season.

As you say, the team were applauded off the pitch for a home draw in league one which effectively ended our season.

This was because of the effort put in by the team. The free flowing, attacking football played and the desire to keep offering wave after wave of attacks.

They should look at the reaction yesterday and think "Bloody hell, imagine the backing we could get next season if we consistently play like that next season and are challenging at the top".

I genuinely think it could win us points.

A few more highlights that include their chances.

Looks like on the dropped catch Long had probably been encouraged to go for those long throws early based on the experience at Gillingham – very fortunate it wasn't a goal.

Looking at the Coutts chance again, it was crying out to be hit first-time.

Better highlights. Cheers. Posted its own thread.
