Sammon's miss on the stroke of half time is even worse than I thought it was at the time - he should have just stood still and headed it, not try to jump and make it look good.

It's a bad miss. Though I can think of one maybe worse at the Lane.

But his strength is highlighted in the build up. Gets the ball, passes it well.

Doesn't make the miss any better, but it does show what he's in the team for, afaict anyway.

Can't believe nobody's commented on Sammon's missed header in the first half. It must have been from somewhere in the vicinity of 3 yards out.

Sammon 1.04 great cross from Coutts met by the bottom of Sammon's boot and 2 nil.

Woolford on 1.20 pintpoint cross in, Edgar on the end, bang, 3 nil.

Hasn't anyone told them they are all crap!..........

I've watched the highlights for the umpteenth time and do yer know I reckon we have the makings of a half decent team!

Now I've not been much this season, but one thing I've noticed is the ball is being played more consistently ahead of the running player, allowing him to carry on his run unabated. It's a good thing

Long's save from the free kick first half looked great from the kop right be hind it. The bloke who took the shot couldn't believe it.

Praise for Sammon bagging after a miss from, what, three yards I reckon. Chin up kid. Billy did great to set the first one up and is very good crossing like that.

Coutts looked superb. His tracking back as if he's in treacle is masked on the right. Maybe it was his fitness that is now more where it should be but whilst I like him as a player he did concern me anytime anyone ran past him.

Praise also to Hammond. The whole team were really good and I'm pleased they played so well in front of a big crowd. Let's keep positive and make the lane a fortress. Despite playing well that game could have easily gone differently, Jay possibly being sent off, Long not saving the free kick, them scoring instead of hitting the post, and I thought Edgar handled in the first half which could have given them a pen. . . It's small margins at times but overall I left feeling the most pleased I have in a long time and feeling that something might be about to click.

The run on by McEveley is good after he really pings the ball into Billy, and so is Sammon's movement for the goal, appears at the last second.

Long's save looked better live, his size and athleticism made that.

I think he was trying to head it but he mistimed it.
