I was only a young lad at the time silent and coming from a family of armchair supporters from the dark side caused me to miss the best United years of my lifetime. A Woody last minute thunderbolt at the first game I ever went to had me hooked after that. Nearly 40 years later my family are all season ticket holders but missing out on the likes of TC etc still guts meSigned for us in February 1973 in an exchange deal. Trevor Hockey going the other way
Thanks Silent. You and your rather fabulous and encyclopaedic knowledge of all things United have ruined my gagMick Speight

The 1st March 1973 edition of Shoot magazine was a League Cup special dedicated to the two finalists – Spurs and Norwich City. All the colour pages were given to pictures of players from those two teams apart from one – a Blades player. Who was it?
Well done spongebob. It was indeed. The editors obviously expected him to still be a Norwich player so he was featured on the back page in his Norwich kit but, after his transfer to The Blades a few days earlier, it must have been too late to change the photo but just in time to remove his former club's name and insert his new club's instead.Jim Bone

Tony Gale opened the scoring for Fulham before Chico Hamilton headed in a spendid equaliser after a cross by Bobby Campbell. Woody's winner was midway in the 2nd half blasting in a nod down by Campbell. Tony Kenworthy did a good marking job on George BestI wish!
I finally got to go in the autumn of 77. Nobody would take me to the lane so after much nagging I got my mum to enrol me on The Star soccer coaching scheme. It got me from under her feet in the summer with the prize being a free trip to the Sheffield club of your choice. I got to see us beat Fulham 2-1. Besty played for them and Chico Hamilton got our equaliser
