Francis is the current captain of a team in 10th place in the division above us and was their top assist maker from right back in their promotion side. He was stuck in our reserves, surely he deserves some credit for improving his career.

It must be going on ten years since Francis played for us, and this is the first time he's played in a division above us in that time, and that's more down to how far we've fallen than how he's risen. He was regarded as a very good prospect when he was at the Lane, and spending a career in the lower divisions before rising to the Championship can't be seen as fulfilling that potential.

That's just one example. There are others. For example away at Old Trafford he also performed well, and was denied a stonewall penalty. Again, his pace completely unsettled the opposing defence.

And of course the defender would have been sent off. And we went down by a single goal. Small margins...

Though I don't agree it supports Pinchy's wild ramblings, it was clear Blackwell's non football wasn't going to get anything out of Britton, who clearly had ability.
UTB

Britton was dysfunctional the way he was used here, Blackwell got him totally wrong.

Britton only played 2 league games under Blackwell.
Blame Speed and his boring, negative but "playing the right way" football for Britton's failure.

When Flo left Bassett thought he was finished as a footballer, and Kendall couldn't wait to get rid of him. He then became a hero at Strømsgodset, scoring 110 goals in 161 matches, and won more caps for Norway.

What did Bassett say about Flo, I haven't heard that before?

Fair point, but Blackwell signed him for an attacking midfield role. It was obvious that the role didn't suit him as he picked up loose balls and then passed it nicely on to Nick Montgomery or Johannes Ertl.

He showed a lot of promise when he first arrived. After that he wasted his talent and became stuck in our reserves before we gave him away. His inclusion is based on how he's picked himself up since that point.

He's admitted that he was unprofessional in his time at the Lane, and I think he could have had a far better career if that wasn't the case.

Dellas was never a regular at United. Although I know many Blades liked him.

Had you seen francis

Francis gave one of the worst performances Bert has ever seen from a United player, away at Forest. No wonder he got the boot.

He was here before I became a fan, so you tell me! Was he poor for us? He certainly proved that he was a good player later.
He wasnt bad for us. He asked for a transfer not long after Bassett came to us as he didnt like his style (I remember reading a paper report about it)

I think Britton only played 2 games for Blackwell. Joining United from Swansea must be the worst career move anyone has ever made. He was the sort of player that David Weir needed.

Weir played the same kind of football as Speed, who failed to get any kind of performance out of Britton.
