Headlines:
Turnover up to £11.6M from £10.9M
Losses after interest and disposal of players registrations down to £5.7M from £7.7M
1st team wages down to £5.9M from £6.8M

Interesting post reporting balance sheet changes, we spent £1.8M on player transfers but received £7.1M for sell on fees

I’ll let the accountants pick out other nuggets.

“Wer’s munneh gone” tends to be more popular but from me thanks to McCabe and the Prince subbing us again to the tune of £6M to allow our club to survive and thanks to Chris for a wonderful season done on less money than Madkins.

Interesting about the 1st team wages.

Was reading about Bournemouth's FFP breach the other day, & noticed that their wage bill when they went up in 2014/15 was over £30 million. On gates of barely over 10,000 per home game (second worst attendances in the division).

WEERZ MUNNEH GONE?!

(ahem)

Gates are irrelevant, their owner has got some seriously wedge. His pockets are far deeper than our two.

Yes.

L1’s version of FFP is SCMP basically you can’t spend more than 60% of turnover on 1st team wages. We complied but of course Bournemouth totally ignored that as well although they altered the rules in that you could do it if the owner put the extra in via equity.

Championship FFP is you can’t lose more than £39M over 3 years. Bournemouth managed that in one season. I don’t think they have to pay the fine until they go back to the Championship.

Gate receipts become almost an irrelevance once in the Premier League because it is a TV sport. They’ve gambled and won, Bournemouth’s last turnover figure was £88M ............

The real figure worth noting is the one which says we still made a £5m pound loss despite player transfers and fees.
That says all that is needed to be known about why it was so important to get up to the championship.
Hopefully, this time next year we will be seeing in the accounts an increase in revenue to support increased player expenses with losses reduced to zero....with a nice little Brucie bonus of promotion added value.

It’s possible. Not as much since Coutts injury, but it’s still possible.

It’s madness is what it is.

But that’s premier league football, the same football I watched all Sunday afternoon and was pretty much bored silly at Anfield by the “best” English manager, and then the supposed biggest club in the world.
If those premier league teams can’t produce competitive football with their budgets then it really is a crime and a disgrace.

Still find the Bournemouth case pretty amazing because they didn't seem to sign that many players, they kept the Third Division core intact (& a large core at that).

Which suggests some pretty spectacular wage increases, to players & management.

I doubt we’ll see losses reduced to zero, promotion clauses on wages and some investment in higher quality will probably see off the turnover increases.

Expensive business paying footballers and agents.

I guess it’s possible if we make the playoffs.

That’s my projection, cup run this year and a play off run. We’ve upped wages this season by around £3m I reckon minimum. We shall see if we spend in January.

Agee. The owners will only see a trading profit when we get promoted to the PL For the pair of them to get their cash back, that's about £60m as of those accounts.

The only chance the club has of breaking even is the Kyle Walker and Maguire money.

£7.1m for all the transfers after the last year end. That may cover the increased wages helped by increased turnover this season. We'll see what happens in January.

Am I correct in assuming that we would have lost £11 million without the nett £5.3 realised from transfers?

I'm confused a bit, I'm no accountant but isn't illegal to transfer funds between different businesses?

The profit on transfers figure isn't a cash item. It's simply an adjustment to take into account the initial transfer fee and sums already written off and the fee received. Similarly the amortisation figure (£2.5) is a calculation made by writing off any transfer fees over the length of the contract.
If a player is signed for a million and given a four year contract the million is written off in four tranches of £250k. If the player is sold at the beggining of year 3 for example, the balance sheet value is £500k. If he's sold for £2m, there is a profit of £1.5m. If he was Hammond, Sammon or Woolford, probably cost us a fortune.

Sorry if it's accounts talk but hope I've made it clear enough.

Makes sense now actually. I don't have any remote knowledge of accounting. From what I interpret we will be relying on 'gifts' from the two owners to buy and then hopefully the increase revenue from this season will help pay for the wage bill increase for the players this season and anyone who we bring in. But if there both a few million short in what they've invested I suspect we'll be looking for the bargain buy again.

Realistically we needed a couple of seasons revenue in this league before 'going for it'

Interesting to see that in note 27, we are still paying £94k per year for payments to the old Football League pension scheme whihc has a deficit. We have another £500k to chip in over coming years despite the fact that the scheme is no longer opena dn none of our current palyers will benefit.

But of course things like this don't really count, do they. "Where the munneh gone McCabe?"
