Since this 62nd competitive game of the season may well be our last, I would like to express my appreciation of those of you who have followed them home and away. Despite the fact that much that has been served up this season has been tripe you folks have dug deep in your pockets and given unselfishly of your time to support the great cause.

This is not about who is the Bladiest Blade - I have only managed 10 trips to the Lane - because we are all believers. It is an appreciation of that peculiar form of madness that is unrewarded loyalty.

Can't wait to do it all again next year

I hear Southend is lovely in January.

Well, not exactly the best season of football I have seen, but I will be there again next season as always. Unfortunately, as I have said a few times on other threads, we are the biggest team to spend the most consecutive seasons in the third tier (in my lifetime) and sadly, next season continues that trend. I really thought this season was the easiest to get out of League One on paper.

Bet there are a few 'million' fans not a million miles away from here who would argue that one, that's if they care to admit to their 5 stretch at this level in the 70s, when their crowds dipped to the 6/7 thousand level ;)

"In my life time".
Who wrote this for you, your Dad ?

No mate, I wrote it, and I am more than happy for someone to point out where I am wrong, hoping I am in a way, but big teams that have been down in the third division (SWFC, Wolves, Manchester City) all got out in 2-3 seasons. I am going on memory here, so if someone says "ah, but Chelsea were down here for 7 years back in the early 1960's" then great, that would be one record I don't want us to have.

Cheers Handsworth, good point about them, although as we are staying in League One yet again, we match that now, so we really do have to get out of here this season!!! ;)
