Does it seem that the fans around where you sit at the Lane are a little blinkered? It does to me. Certainly from the reactions to certain players and the decent pass or tackle/balls-up ratio and the crowd booing.
What I am getting at is that the crowd are a lot more forgiving of some players than they are of others.

For example, the crowd seem more forgiving of Naughton than, say, Naysmith, and certainly Monty.

So why can Naughton get away with some bad tackles and passing, yet one misplaced pass from Monty after a whole load of tackles and passes has certain sections of the crowd screaming for his head on a pole? Is it because Naughton is a Blade, and Monty is from Leeds? Monty has certainly played for the club more, but why does Naughton "get away" with mistakes that aren't forgiven when another player makes one?

This isn't a dig at Naughton, far from it, it's more a go at those in the crowd who have their blinkers on during a match. Those who would boo Monty if he missed a sitter for his hat-trick.

Doesn't matter who it is for me, ill have a little jab at whoever does somthing wrong, but by me doing this it won't affect anyone, they won't hear me :P But still i pay to see proffesionals and if i think i can do a better ill let it known :D:D

Naughton is going to make mistakes, hes a kid, nothing can be done about this, his is top class most of the time

montgomery is experianced and shouldnt make so many mistakes, nor does he do that many good things to even it out a bit

So is there a cut-off age where mistakes stop being because of inexperience and youth? :)

Because Naughton is quality whilst Montgomery...isn't :D

Naughton is a very good player, but he's scored an own-goal this season and Monty hasn't.....

Naughton has also scored a goal for us too ;).

Naughton has the sort of quality that Monty has never possessed.

Monty's commitment can't be called into question, but for me, he's a good squad player at best.

What has frustrated me about Naysmith at times has been the contrast in his performances for Scotland and the Blades. Recently though, he has been awesome & showing the ability that he has. Good to see him getting forward more.

Does no-one remember Monty breaking onto the scene? or is that a stupid question? ;)

I agree. Like I said in the Blackpool game, Monty misplaced a pass, groans from the crowd. Straight after Naughton put a pass astray and nothing was said.

i think it works both ways theres some fans see no wrong in some players.
sharp and webber both spring to mind i think every one has a prefered starting line up, and if monty webber or sharp is keeping there fave player out i think this is what causes a more critical view.

But then again, there are some people who think down the middle...

Take THIS THREAD about Sharp for instance. Or mine and jodman's little discussion in THIS THREAD.

Praise them when they're doing well. Question them when they aren't.
