Just stumbled across this.

I think it's great.

Herbert Chapman was playing for us in that match. After his playing career he went on to manage Leeds City (who were expelled from the league in 1919 for illegal payments), Huddersfield where he won two league championship titles and one FA Cup before moving to Arsenal winning two more league titles and one FA Cup

Interesting on so many levels.

The sea of flat caps..... Fatty Foulke .... the game played at near walking pace ... and the Bury reporter's summing up of their attack "like a patchwork quilt without the design".

Them were't days?

The railings looked familiar and the John street stand the same as 1946 except the part near the Kop was bombed to the ground then.
When one thinks how it was when we started and how it is today!.
Hope you enjoyed the trip last Saturday.

ahhh for the days where no man would be seen dead without a flat cap (especially in Yorkshire).... :D

Got to say as well, the ground looks pretty damn good, in an antique sort of way.
