I'd almost forgotten how pitches used to cut up so appallingly due to typical British weather! Comparisons with players from other era's is almost impossible, and the concept of a Desso pitch would have been an unobtainable fantasy, but even with the dreadful conditions, there's still a fair degree of skill on view. Well done Silent Blade for making this possible.

Thanks for that. That game doesn't figure in my scrapbook, I must have been getting worried about the lack of points gained around then. A few observations:
1. Simpson was a good left-winger, with a powerful shot and good crosser of the ball. Had games where he disappeared, unfortunately. His goal was a precursor of TC's 'quality goal'.
2. Pace's heading was unusually disappointing.
3. In the second-half, Coldwell crossed the half-way line by about 3 yards - a rare event.
4. I can't believe how bad the pitch was - I don't know about heavy roller, it needs a steam-roller.
5. I know we lived in black-and-white until the early 60s, but that film is ridiculous!
