I remember watching the highlights on MOTD at my boarding school.

Woody receiving a silver salver before the match from the club for breaking Doc Pace's post war goals record.

Steve McKee's debut.

England manager Don Revie in attendance.

I was at that game Silent, first game I went to on my own as a 13 year old & first live game I’d been to for a while, very disappointed going home!

Futcher brothers played. Ron up front and his brother was centre half I believe. I attended this
game and shortly after we lost 3 2 after being 2 up v big Sam's Bolton. 2 home matches I'd rather forget.

The 3-2 home defeat to Bolton was on 28/12/76 (Tuesday night). We were losing 2-1 at half time.

Moan? Nope-I saw Longhorn Check out your hero’s ‘shot’ at 04:50 🤣
Aye I was there that day (still got the programme)
That was likely the start of my (not so loving) infatuation with t’old Den
Although to be reyt there was plenty more garbage on display n’all
I ‘excuse’ ‘skippy’ Garner who always gave 100%, Hamson (pre injury) was a proper baller (+ goal v Scouse) & Chico had ability when he could be arsed (rarely) but gets a ‘pass mark’ for netting in a freezing cold Friday night 1-0 v pre big balls Bertie Chelsea ( I think)

Ahhhh
Nostalgia not what it used to be?

Aye
I’d be 16/17 @ the time & pretended to be ‘ard until I /we encountered some ‘proper’ (cockney) boys who couldn’t even be arsed to give us a clip - just words of (profane but insightful) advise - humiliation lasted all weekend although by time we went back to work we’d ‘ “run em all ovvvver”

“Shoreham Republican Army, We’re barmy, wherever we go, we fear no foe…..” my arse

“ boarding school”, !

Drew 1 1 v millwall, Hamilton nearly hit clock on away end.
But I've drunk a lot of lager since then so maybe mistaken.
Apologies - my bad, crossed wires - my (equally) addled brain could only recall Chico netting (vs Chelsea) - reckon I must have subconsciously expunged that horrendous ‘effort’ (sic) vs Mi’wawl - although I can now (again) visualise it perfectly - as you describe

Only (other) excuse is they both played in (porcine) blue & anyroad all them there cockernees all look (& sound) the fackin’ same 😳

Oi Hitler. Out of order.
Aye
Shame nobody told ‘in that in 1936

“and you Himmler - behave thisen……….. …. Goring, this plane is going nowhere with all that weight on board ……………………….…………& you can shut yer gob ‘afore tha starts n’all Goebells

I think one of the reasons it was on MOTD was because it was the 50th anniversary of the first match broadcast on radio, our home game against Arsenal, 22/1/1927.
Hadnt thought of that! I was also surprised that Don Revie chose to watch this match!
