Blade phoned in to Radio Sheffield

There is an easy solution for the caller, don't turn it on, you don't have to listen to a radio phone in if you don't like what the other callers are talking about. They can only talk to who phones in,, currenlty there really is only one topic of conversation exercising the 5 million supporters of a certain bankrupt football club,

Unlike their other Chairman, Dave Allen, who was a pure businessman, I don’t think Chancer is nasty and vindictive.
It’s weird because as a generalisation Thailand must have the nicest, most respectful people in the world.

I’d say their owner is more like Mr Bean…..everything suggests he’s never been a businessman and doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.

I don’t think that many would use the word “pure” to describe Dave Allen.

The fact that it's still on almost every night must mean that they run out of things to talk about.

Like Alan Partridge's radio show with who invented cat's eyes or what happens if you just eat crisps.

"PLEEAAASEE give me a call! Seriously, do give me a call."

As you may gleam from my 'name' I get quite a lot of my football fix from the good old fashioned radio , , be it Radio 5 , Talksport or the various local BBC local radio stations I can get on my Freeview TV , To be fair to The Radio Sheffield lads I think they do a brilliant job , their remit is not just Sheffield United ( unfortunately) but they have to cover the other clubs in the area ( there might be one less for them to cover soon if things go on as they are ) , I sometimes ( not always) enjoy listening to fans of other clubs , yes , you get a fair mix of characters ringing up but that is what you get on all forms of radio phone ins ,, I didn't hear the call the OP referred to but I have heard similar calls moaning about them favouring one club over another but what you find generally if they are discussing club A and then a caller rings wishing to discuss club B they will discuss club B ,, The other phone ins on Talksport and Radio 5 seem concentrate on Man U , Man C , Arsenal,Spurs , Liverpool with the occasional odd mention of other premier League clubs and very occasionally a mention of a team outside the top flight , So having a local station were basically, on average 1in 6 calls ( and I think it is probably higher) is BLADES related is something to treasure rather than complain about , There is also the added bonus of the number of commentaries of BLADES games , a real bonus for anyone not able to attend games , If I want Blades and just Blades I have here (S2,4SU) to read or watch SUWay ,Ramble , Shoreham View (RIP) , Travelling , When Saturdays Come etc but just sometimes like to hear what happening locally at the neighbouring clubs ( especially if they have lost )
The club I do feel a bit sorry for is Chesterfield, I think if they were covered by Radio Derby instead of Sheffield they would get more coverage , The one way to make sure there is more Blades content on the Football Heaven is to ring up with your opinions of The Blades ( I don't myself) especially if you are a regular away day Blade giving your opinion to those fellow Blades who have not travelled ,, I am new to posting on here but have been a reader of messages for some time and have previously been surprised how and why anyone enjoying chatting about football on a forum would criticise fellow football fans for voicing their opinions through another format , I for one am looking forward to listening throughout the coming season probably while reading messages on S24SU at the same time ,, who said I couldn't multitask?

The point is one of the presenters is a pig and it’s mostly about his team even when there is nowt happening at the piggies it’s still about them ….yep Staton is a pig…he will be a lost soul if piggies vanish

Considering what the various clubs that Radio Sheffield cover have got going on respectively at present, I don't find it surprising that the filth, and their various disasters, are the sole/primary point of discussion at present, regardless of it Staton is hosting or not. Because, what else have they really got to talk about?

Fixtures came out yesterday admittedly, but that's not really a big deal. We might find it a point of discussion on here, but in comparison to the collapse going on at S6, it's nothing.

No major talking points for them to address with United. They put out their interview with Selles the other day so that's already covered. We haven't got anything indicating we're closing in on transfers yet, so not really anything to discuss on that front either. And the other sides they cover, tend to get lesser coverage normally anyway. So all they're left with is Chansiri, and his wonderful world of fuck-ups.

I know Radio Sheff has occasions where some of their coverage is a bit baffling, but I don't know what else folk are expecting right now. An in-depth chat about how our new pitch will bed in perhaps?
Chansiri and his wonderful world of fk ups ….. take a bow sir 🤣

I stopped listening to football heaven years ago as I got fed up of hearing the same attention seeking callers, and also the hosts shutting down the opinions of people who don't agree with them. If we won 1-0 but played rubbish all game and didn't really deserve the victory, they'd tell you that you're spouting nonsense as United won.

As would a huge number of our supporters that are stuck on 92 points!

Someone text in (it wasn't a call) to ask, sarcastically, if we were only talking about Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday's show. It was pointed out that inevitably it was going to dominate the agenda that night. Dejphon Chansiri had published a statement that day, his first communication since the issues came to light about failing to pay staff wages in full on time for May. We had three callers on the show who were all Owls too. It was a justified feature topic and it would be for any of our local clubs if they were in the same situation.

It was also noted that on Tuesday our show included a full interview with Ruben Selles, that last Thursday we'd done an hour-long special from the New York Stadium celebrating Rotherham United's centenary season and that the previous night had included an interview with Chesterfield's Jamie Grimes. Thursday's show itself also ended with a piece with Barnsley boxer Callum Simpson.

I appreciate we're never going to win any online debates on our coverage when we cover a patch with six local clubs but let's be fair.

Anyway, hope you're all enjoying your summer and always happy to engage 👍

I 've always thought you give a fair and impartial viewpoint for all the local teams.
You'll know better than I do that whatever you do, someone will always complain. It's just the nature of people to see imagined bias sometimes.
Just want to say that I as now live abroad and watch blades matches from afar it's always reassuring to listen to radio Sheffield commentary that goes with the feed. Thanks and keep up the good work.

To be fair, with what’s currently happening with the pigs, it’s newsworthy and an ongoing saga, of course you’re going to cover it. It’s the listeners choice whether they listen or not

why doesn't Staton just broadcast from rust bucket....its all about pigs same drivel all the time for week after week after week. Wendy Hurry up and vanish along with that channel

ITS like when the queen dies ,, non stop coverage , so is to be expected when europes most loved club is in its death throes

Yep agree ... it's when club or chairman stays quiet... then all we as fans can do is make it up ... rinse and repeat. This scenario seems a bit like us?

On yer bike I’ll say it as it is. If you don’t like it don’t comment
You mean say it as you think it is .....lots of people like to listen to radio sheff ...
Footy commentary, footy heaven & praise and grumble ...
Lots of people never get out of the house for 1 reason or another...they may not see another soul for weeks on end ...
putting FH on at 6pm every night may make them feel part of the outside world ..
To summerise if you dont like we dont care ....just dont listen to it .....
Now be a good boy & Foxtrot Oscar

There but for the grace of God go us as the saying goes.
foreign owner who knows little about football buys a club. It's a business to him. A business he knows little about. It doesn't go as planned so he loses interest. He cares little about his staff, players or fans. I think it's sad for all concerned and as such is newsworthy.
we too have new owners who are not exactly steeped in football.
let's see what happens.

I relatively new to posting messages on S24SU , not entirely aware of the rules and etiquette, so I hope my message does not get me a ban from the site ,,,,,
"at the moment I am quite enjoying listening to what is going on at S6" 😊

There’s actually something of note happening at Wednesday, what do you want them to say about us?

‘Pre season training went well today according to blades manager Ruben Selles…’ wow how inspiring can’t believe they’ve not included a segment on that…

I think you do a decent job at FH, you’re never going to please all sides and commentators/presenters bias will always come through whether it’s local radio or international coverage but it’s definitely not more or less prevalent than say Alan Shearer talking about Newcastle or Neville/Carragher talking about Man U/Liverpool.

I get why you want to get your side across on here but you’re fighting a losing battle as some people already have entrenched views on the topic of FH bias and no amount of stating facts will change that. Look at other threads for more proof on other subjects!

As much stick as some of the local press come in for we don’t do bad in the South Yorks/North Derbyshire area and I enjoy the interviews and questions with Blades players and coaches. I can easily switch off on the rest, I suggest other people use the same discretion and stop getting wound up about things they can’t influence (people should pity Mark, not get triggered by him!).

The alternative to local radio is clickbaity YouTubers, I know what I’d rather listen to!

It’s every night same old same old

It’s every night same old same old
It might have escaped your attention, with you having your blade tinted glasses on, but it’s an absolute circus over there at the moment - of course that is going to be the story they talk about - yes every night because that’s what people, even Blades, want to hear about - pigs wanna talk about it because their club is in the doldrums, we wanna hear about it because it’s hilarious.
