Blackpool - shoes off

Shoes off on the Kop? Are you insane? With footwear in hand the Kop would become a veritable minefield of dropped food, spilt drinks, discarded chewing gum and slithery phlegm, and I don't fancy stepping in any of that. We should get some of those lovely scarves in anither club's colours, like Man Utd have done with the Norwich scarves. I fancy a nice pink Palermo one please.

Higher wages, more money to spend, bigger club, bigger profile, better prospects, better facilities.

Other than that, I'm not sure.

:D

UTB

If we keep plumeting as fast as we have the last couple of years that statement might not be true !

Why would Sean O'Driscoll want to come to the Lane ?

I don't think he thinks he can take Donny any further, don't forget he did talk to Burnley, and despite the apparent malaise around the club at the moment, it is a great job to take on and a step upwards for him (just about !)

Apparently his philosophy is performances count much more than results. He would last 5 minutes here ,when he would probably need 3 years. He is another manager who bows down to the chairman hence Wellens ,Mills etc etc and I don't think he has the charisma to battle through the bad times with our board or supporters.

I find it quite bizarre that we call for O'Driscoll when Flobbo was hung drawn and quartered for having no charisma. The man comes across so dull on the radio that I start yawning at the mention of his name!

However, that first sentence is exactly why I would carry him on my back from the Keepmoat to BDTBL. If the performance is right the results WILL follow. That is a philosophy that all top sportsmen, in all sports, everywhere know to be true.

As for his bowing down to the Chairman, so what? Who doesn't? Was Sir Alex creaming himself at the thought of Ronaldo pissing off, has Wenger fucked off because he's, in effect, hamstrung by paying for a new stadium. It's all relative.
Doncaster Rovers are, right now, almost on a par with us! That's Doncaster Fucking Rovers!!!! When we played them when I was a kid you had to take an abacus to keep count of Woody's goals and then they'd only ever be in the County Cup. We somehow manged to get down to their level at the end of the Seventies but that was always going to be just a blip. It's not even a generation ago they had chairmen burning down the stands and now they can sit aside us in the second tier, and have actually WON a game at BDTBL.
I can't believe I can look at a fixed odds coupon and they are in the top half of fixtures!!
That's not all down to O'Driscoll but he's played an enormous part and good luck to him. I well remember when he took over at Donny (can't remember his predecessors name) and the number of calls on RS that he'd lost the plot and no-one knew what system he was playing and it would never work. He stuck by it and look where they are now.

Would he get the time at BDTBL? Possibly, from those of us who remember better days (football wise) and are prepared to wait for them to come back if we can see it happening. Possibly not, from the "winning is all that counts" section (and this, sadly, may include the Chairman).

To mirror what Raul says, I don't see the genuine anger apart from the keyboard warriors who generally will sit there and say nothing in any case. There might be a bit of half arsed moanery around the place but its nothing compared to the absolute poison that counted for Robson.

I stopped going for several reasons a couple of years back. This season I have seen fewer Blades games than any time in the past 25 years. I don't miss it because every week I get the same old texts that basically say we are poor. Too poor to make the play offs now. I hark back to the days (only about 5-6 seasons ago) where in spite of garbage football, no real quality through the club and no reason to expect that to change there were often 15 or so of us used to turn up at the pub pre and post match. Now by all accounts there are about 5 and everyone else has got bored/found something more entertaining to do.

There was a time not too long ago I could never see me missing Blades games but I, like many I know can't muster up the passion to go and see another gutless, pointless and quite frankly waste of time performance. In a stadium of semi interested punters who in most cases are only there because they feel obliged because they spent the money last August on a season ticket. I would rather sit at home and watch Soccer Saturday to be honest.

Yesterday afternoon was a personal watershed in some small way. I have always had a Blades badge in the back of my car. While washing it yesterday I removed it. It won't be going back on the car. I used to be able to defend my club no matter what league we were in. Now I don't actually think they deserve my support or loyalty in the face of people saying "Sheffield United? They're shit". I just shrug and move on to talk about something else.

I don't blame Blackwell and those who think he should/will jack it in should think about this:-

He is under contract and gets paid no matter what. The club sack him he gets a pay out. He will never work for a bigger club than us and I actually think he is a genuine blade. So why would he jack all that in? I wouldn't and neither would any of you unless you were mad.

McCabe won't sack his personal shit shield and why would he? It's cosy for both of them. Blackwell is like a kid in a sweet shop and McCabe avoids the majority of the flack. Actually I can't believe he hasn't been taking more because he has sold everything from under Blackwells feet.

I think many fans see this and hence can't get their dander up to shout about it. I would expect to see less than 20k next season so then KM can start blaming fans for not sticking with us through thick and thin etc etc. He would be right, we can't afford to be there watching the same old shit when there are better things to do on a Saturday afternoon.

And who will come in? Speed? He is part of the same management coaching team.

There are 10 games to go,we'll probably finish mid table. Why pay up a contract now.? Wait until the end of the season then any new manager will be able to start from fresh with a small bunch of contracted players he can build on with a more flexible wage budget as the lastof the big wage earners (except Sharp)should have gone.

Yes ,in my opinion I think Blackwell needs to go at the end of the season but surely now is the time to back the players during the game instead of planning protests(shoes off...ffs),singing corners, and booing players when the come on the pitch, cheering when they get hit in the face with the ball and having a go at players when they have made a mistake.

I don't think he thinks he can take Donny any further, don't forget he did talk to Burnley, and despite the apparent malaise around the club at the moment, it is a great job to take on and a step upwards for him (just about !)

and at least at lane he'll have a bit of money to spend.

We can't afford to sack King Kevin, so your protests will be in vain my friends! With another 2 years left on his contract then there is absolutely no way that Kevin McCabe will sack him.

I personally am hoping that he'll quit at the end of the season, but tbh I think it's unliekyl to happen. A disappointing finish around 10th might make KB realise he has no future at the club. He knows he is not popular, but unfortunately he is a stubborn git. He cam out fighting last week (I read it in the yorkshire post) and it was pathetic. He was defending his record and implying that he had done better at United that Warnock ("i'll take my record any day of the week"). We all know that is was his insecruties that lead him to try and imply he is better than NW. I'd like to think that he is on the brink of quitting (his interviews suggest he is losing it and is under intense pressure) but I doubt the stubborn git will feck off.

If i was at the game I'd probably protest. However, I won't be there.

Sorry but if we carry on like we are, Blackwell will be sacked regardless of how long's on his contract.
They're not going to let a two-year deal take precedence over thousands and thousands of lost season tickets and associated lost revenue.
He might hang on a little longer but we have three derbies coming up, all of which I'd fancy us to lose.
He wouldn't survive that.

I can only hope that you are right.

All that just to tell us you've washed your car??

And none of the 5 are renewing either....

It looks nice now as well :)

None of the 5 renewing doesn't really surprise me. I can't think of one good reason to renew. We have said before that the football spoils a good day out drinking. Perhaps we should just get together at a random pub somewhere and watch Soccer Saturday on the box getting bladdered into the bargain. I have a couple of pass outs before the end of the season so may as well use them. Assuming we don't have to get up to Hampden for a semi final that is :)

Sellick, either 10th or 11th April.

Do gorillas where shoes?

Good god man, have you never seen Planet of the Apes? They carry rifles too apparently.

Anyway, it may not be relevant as I would hazard a guess that Olly is an Orangutan from his avatar. They wear moccasins...

I'm an albino Gorilla thank you very much. And I wear shoes made from the skins of Sheffield Wednesday fans!? ;)

I did a quick calculation (see below) and would like to retract my comment earlier and encourage all of you to get in the car park tonight. Even if it doesn't get KB sacked it will draw KM's attnetion. Then when we suffer embaressing defeats at the hands of Pigs and Dingles he should hopefully get the boot.

19,000. I'd hazard a guess about 1% have renewed so far.

Car Park Protest! Sounds like it was all talk and no action.

I was never one for the protest, however I still want rid of Blackie, had enough.
