I know Brooks will rightly get a lot of praise and credit after that match for that well taken goal but we have to give some serious credit to Blackman. He had 2 outstanding saves first half, I was sat behind the goal in the Kop and I was absolutely sure one was going in. Both were at a time that could have made them go 1-0 up or equalise. The game could have easily played out another way if one of those went in.

His distribution has been under question but with the exception of one or two balls he got it all spot on today and I think he has that no. 1 jersey now til the end of the season. UTB

Yeah, they had a couple of spots, either through decent one touch play or slack defending they were able to get efforts off and Jam dealt with them, good shout

Agree, strange game.
Thought Burton were slightly the better side overall up to Brooks coming on.
Burton were plucky, seemed to outbattle us but thankfully their final ball was poor and they lacked quality in our box.

However when Brooks came on, the whole team seemed to get a boost
And then we looked comfortably the better side.
Agreed Blackman was a major factor in our win and it could have been a bad night tonight
But ended up being a comfortable and deserved win.

Ye very much agree, they did seem a bit similar to us though of late where they were spreading it around to the wings a lot when they got near the box but didn't do anything with it. They had some serious chances though that they should have put away and another day they could have easily beat us by a goal or two.

Challenged Duffy for king of through balls with a couple of throws. Fantastic.

Saves were great too.

They didn’t have a shot on target in the second half

Don't know about MOM, but he was very good, just like he always tends to be nowadays. He's grown up quickly in front of our eyes this season. Very, very confident & self-assured now, a real presence, & with vital saves thrown in.

We're lucky to have two class goalies, but Blackman's playing better than ever &, sad for Moore, but he's undroppable right now.

First half they should have had about 3 goals though

They only had 3 shots in the first half and one of those was straight at Blackman before it got a deflection and went wide. Blackman made 2 saves, one very good one and one I would have expected him to save.

I’d agree, Blackman just.

A few might think that we should be blowing teams like Burton away, but I promise you Lads that in every promotion season since I started supporting United we’ve had games and results like tonight, in fact sometimes we’ve had to settle for a draw. Teams are fighting for their lives right now and in fairness I think Burton did Cloughy and their fans proud. They’ve got a couple of tough games but after that they’ve got teams around them to play and I hope they can get out of it...of course I hope even more that it’s at the Pork’s expense. :)

Ye Burton don't seem to be anywhere near as bad as others we've seen like Sunderland and Barnsley (& Brum although not against us)

Earlier on this season I had a few concerns about Blackman, couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. Maybe because he was untested at this level, and I wasn’t sure if he wokld be an equal or better goalkeeper than a Simon Moore who is also a fine number one.

He had a short spell where he looked to have lost a bit of form, made a fuck up (which even the best keepers do from time to time),and lost his place in the side, but he has come back in when the opportunity presented itself, and performed admirably ever since, and looks a good, solid commanding keeper and one I’d like to see us sign again in the summer,

Burton can be proud tonight because they gave it a real good go, they have strength and pace, just lacked a bit of quality and seemed to trip over their own feet at times, miss kicks, etc.

I agree Blackman was commanding apart from one corner where he failed to come and Burton looked dangerous.

Brooks is the key man though and I wonder where we would sit in the table had he not contracted glandular fever and been a first team pick throughout the season?

Wish we could get another season long loan arranged for Blackman next season but unless we go up it’s doubtful I suspect he will be loaned out to a Premier League side.

Potential top class player.

Getting better every game, there was that mistake second half when he should have collected a cross but stayed on his line otherwise a solid performance with a couple of very good saves. I wouldn't say no to signing him if possible in the summer.

Another really good performance from his. He's getting better and better and I really feel safe with him at the moment.

I sent a vote in for Jamal and asked them how he wasn’t even on the shortlist. Whether he would have won it or not he deserved to be on tne list. Who choses it? Whilst MOTM doesn’t really count for anything why isn’t it a free vote from the whole team?

Thought Blackman was excellent tonight, the first save you'd expect most keepers to make but the second was a fantastic reaction save. On top of that though he did what he does best, plucking crosses out of the sky before they can get anywhere near an attackers head. Very good commanding of his area tonight and as soon as the ball is in his hands he's looking to throw it out and get us moving in possession quickly which helps create spaces for us to exploit.

I think he is a brilliant goalkeeper when faced with shots which are waist height upwards, but I think he struggles with low shots due to his height. Still he has improved and gained confidence a lot over this season and I wouldn't be upset if we could loan him next year as well.

I think Blackman is the best keeper we have had for a few seasons now, and he is learning all the time.
