This is an interesting one! :) Sailing this saturday!

The official Cowes Harbour Commission web site said:
Kevin Blackwell, Sheffield United Manager, will be competing in the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race with Paul Goodison, GBR representative in the Laser Class at the forthcoming Beijing Games.

Team Volvo for life sailor, Paul will be swapping his single handed dinghy for a TP52 yacht and will be showing Kevin the ropes onboard this fast raceboat. This will be the British sailor’s last UK appearance before he heads out to China for the final training camps and preparations.

Paul, who is originally from Sheffield and an avid Sheffield United Fan, is highly pleased at the news:

"For me this is the ultimate person to be racing with in the Round the Island race this year, I have been a blades (Sheffield United) supporter all my life, I can’t wait to let all my friends back home know that Kevin is sailing with me! It’s going to take about 5-7 hours to finish the race, hopefully I can get a few hints on the big summer signings he will be making for next season."

For the race Paul will be skippering the Volvo RYA Keelboat Programme’s TP52, Team Volvo for life 1. Paul will be racing with some of the Keelboat Programme sailors in the competitive Class Zero fleet, against the other TP52 race boats, Rio, Ran, Stay Calm, and Cutting Edge.

A video podcast of the Team Volvo for life sailors competing at the event will be available on the Volvo Sailing website, see link shown below. The interactive site also has exclusive video diaries documenting Team Volvo for life members and their preparations for the Beijing Olympics.
