Bit quiet on here when we win innit

Basham easily followed some way behind by Sharp.
He put in some nice and strong tackles and a few good interceptions but nothing too spectacular as far as performances go. Sharp took his goal well but what else did he do? There wasn't exactly much quality out there at all today, and like I say Adams didn't have a great game but he had more about him than most. The team, on the whole, were poor.

I sometimes wonder what it must have been like in the trenches WW1 and WW2.

This is only S2 but I would never have wanted to be in a real 'war' with some on here.
Not relative at all league 3 not entrenched in the western front pay a bit off respect But I get your drift

The League is so shit we may still stumble into the play offs. We'd be humiliated in them though.

I don't disagree with you about the shitness of the league, just with our ability to put a consistent string of results together

I think everyone's happy we won. Doesn't mean we can't still discuss realities though does it?

Correct ...... no denying it I'm delighted that we won and it means we're less likely to get into a relegation dog-fight now.

It doesn't change the reality though that we're not in a position to realistically compete in the play-offs with this squad even if we manage to scrape over the line into 6th spot this year.

Lightweight midfield and slow upfront, missing multiple chances and a great finish for the goal.

It could have been worse but I'm taking comfort this weekend from a true "Sheffield double" and an alcoholic celebration is in order .......

UTB & FTP

Same as ever when we win, the "told you so" brigade come on pretending their blind optimism is now justified, the "we're shit" brigade just have a week off and give some begrudging praise.

Some just remain in the middle and make comments based on the reality of the situation, the forum wouldn't work without the various factions though would it?

Are you really sure you were there today? Or were you sat listening to it on Radio Pig, along with news that the scum were losing 1-0 with a man sent off?

Did you think we played well?

I thought we played better than in recent games, yes. I thought Port Vale were shit. I thought Cuvelier showed some class for a League One game when he came on. I thought Che had a decent game and wanted to break forward every time he had the ball. I thought Basham played well and dealt with everything. I thought Billy Sharp worked his bollocks off as always, took his goal well, tried to be the target man, hold the ball up, bring others into play, and then dash up and be the striker as well.

Did it come across that way on the radio?

I've suspected for a while that you don't know much about football, your post confirms it. Basham was outstanding today, won all his tackles and headers from start to finish and attacked with purpose too.

I doubt anybody would say the team performance was great, but it was an improvement, with some encouraging signs. That makes me feel happuer than a draw or defeat, how about you?

You've effectively just agreed with a lot of what I've already said. You're being very daft. I don't get the bitterness or the hostility to what I've said at all.

It's probably when you spout bollocks like this........

"...Sharp took his goal well but what else did he do?...'

That's when everyone else who was actually at the game would have started chuckling and picturing you sat with a mug of cocoa listening to all the games on radio pig

Of course. Your obvious obsession and apparent hatred is clearly clouding a lot of reality for you. I've already said I thought Basham had a good game, maybe not outstanding. Does that little disagreement really justify a post like that? I don't think so personally, others will have their view.

As I've said, a lot of your summary I'd already said. I appreciate you'll do anything for a dig but taking a sentence you disagree with and using it to claim I listened to it on the radio is a bit much.

So why say Billy hardly did anything? The hardest working man on the pitch as always?

I didn't. He worked hard off the ball. I appreciate the holding up of the ball etc.. but in terms of taking men on, getting into shooting positions, shooting (goal aside obviously), running with the ball, through balls, getting his head on crosses etc.. did you see much of any of that? I didn't. You've got to have a decent team performance to get a chance of a lot of those, and to a certain extent he was limited because of his teammates but you can only judge a performance on what you see.

Thought Reed had a really poor one but that wasn't unexpected by any means. When he wasn't giving it away he was being shoved off it or giving it off to the nearest man as soon as he could. Che Adams - didn't have a screamer but easily motm, the only one that wanted to take on any responsibility or any risks going forward and low and behold he's brought off by Adkins. Basham had a better game than some I saw him in earlier in the season, came out and put in a few solid tackles. Don't get me wrong a win's a win but jesus christ it was boring. Tempo and composure, we don't have either. Typical mid table clash in many ways. Battle of two poor sides in the end, luckily we were marginally less poor than they were but there wasn't much in it.
Totally wrong!! If Che had a brain maybe a chance of him being a decent player (up to now, unfortunately not)
